Delivering locally
Operating globally and delivering locally:• +180 Points of Presence
• +41,000 customer connections
• 7 network operations centers providing monitoring and proactive diagnosis 24x7
• 5 data centers in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela
• Security operations center in Sao Paulo
Current Analysis
“BT's ambitions in professional services are backstopped by several large data centers in the region that can provide outsourced/hosted services and applications for clients.”

...with a history of successful investment in the region...

Are you aware…
The IPv4 address space is managed by IANA and five
regional internet registries
RIR APNIC’sIPv4 allocation
was exhausted on April 15, 2011
IANA ran out of allocatable addresses in
Feb 2011

What the EU is saying
“Amongst other things, IPv6 allows almost anything to be connected to the Internet permanently. Security mechanisms and improved support for Quality of Service are part of the protocol.”
Erkki Liikanen EU Enterprise Commissioner
Business advantage to
be gained from IPv6

What the analysts are saying
*(see "Internet Protocol Version 6: It's Time for (Limited) Action").
Gartner predicts that, by 2015, 17% of global Internet users will use IPv6, with 28% of new Internet connections running the protocol.*
Most of the IPv6 adoption will be from mobile users, whose devices are not managed by DDI systems.
IPv6 will grow during the next investment cycle
v5 10.10.11
IPv6 grows the Internet
Explosive growth in internet traffic in 2011
• 2 billion internet user
– 2 billion IPv4 users– 0 IPv6 users
• Tablet sales outnumbered PC sales
Dealing with Asia Pac customers
• Asia Pac received less than 10% of the available IPv4 space forcing them to adopt IPv6
• International business requires the capability to handle inbound IPv6
Technology drivers for IPv6
• The development of Smart technologies and environments rely on IPv6
• M2M technologies will drive IPv6 demand
By 2015:
• 4 billion internet users*
– 2 billion IPv4 users– 2 billion IPv6 users
• Proliferation of connected devices
IPv6 is already embedded in applications and devices operating in your network
v5 10.10.11
IPv6 Demand
• The rate of IPv6 traffic levels worldwide has increased since IPv6 World Launch on 6th June 2012 . IPv6 adoption varies by country and influenced by small number of large deployments. A major contributor being the permanent IPv6 enablement by the top content providers (Google, Facebook, Youtube, Yahoo, Wikipedia, Bing etc.)
• Early adoption by academic institutions (some show internal levels of IPv6 traffic over 50%).
• US federal agencies mandated to IPv6 enable public facing websites by September 2012.
• IPv6 adoption in Latin America is still very low
Currently more than 3% of Google’s users are already IPv6. It may seem little, but in September 2013 was only 2%. This shows that the use of the protocol has accelerated.
The prediction is IPv6 adoption hits double digits in 2014
v5 10.10.11
IPv6 – Y2K all over again ?????
NoYour business
will still continue to operate…
However...
…you could see an erosion
in competitive advantage and subsequently
customers
v5 10.10.11
The risk of doing nothing?
• Experts say your online presence may not be reachable by a growing number of customers and supply chain/partners around the world
• Missing the investment cycle leads to remedial action later
• Advanced functionality in IPv6 may offer a business and competitive advantage
• Loss of potential improved operations and security
• Attrition due to lack of challenging IT/Ops work environment
"The risk is that you are lights out for your customers," Hankins* says.
"The risk is that you are off the Internet to a small but growing population."
*Greg Hankins, Global Solutions Architect for Brocade

Consequences of NOT deploying IPv6
Your business will be unreachable by IPv6 users!

Why careful planning is required
IPv6 touches every part of your organisation:
Strategy
• Strategic planning• Buying strategy• Investment cycles• Change management
Policy and support
• Security policy• Services and processes• Training• Application support
Management
• Hardware/ OS• Systems• Monitoring• Reporting and management
Preparation is required NOW
