PETROLATUM TAPE SYSTEMS: Denso’s Petrolatum Tapes or Wax Tapes have been around over 80 years, with Denso Tape being the first one developed. These high performance products provide above and below ground and underwater protection to pipelines, fittings, flanges, tank bases, steel structures and many more. Denso’s petrolatum tape wrap systems can easily be applied by hand to most surfaces in arctic and tropical temperature environments.

SEALING & MOLDING: Denso’s self-supporting molding compounds for irregular surfaces, such as flanges and couplings, are used in conjunction with petrolatum tape or wax tape systems. They provide a smooth profile to minimally prepared surfaces (SSPC SP 2-3) and contain no VOC’s. Water, acid or salts from the environment do not affect Denso’s sealing and molding mastics.

PRIMERS: Denso paste and primers are used in conjunction with petrolatum tape and SeaShield Marine corrosion control systems. Our primers contain moisture displacing corrosion inhibiting compounds that are easily applied by hand or brush.

THE DENSO TANK BASE PROTECTION SYSTEM MEETS THE API-653 STANDARD FOR TANK CHIME INSPECTION.

Densyl Mastic shall be used to provide a smooth transition between the tank base and the concrete.

Mold the compound into a round configuration and apply around and in-between the circumference of the tank edge and concrete base to fill voids and reduce sharp edges.

Apply Denso Hi-Tack Tape starting a minimum of 1” onto the concrete base applying circumferentially around the concrete and steel tank base.

If an additional layer is required to cover at least 1” onto the steel tank base, it shall be applied with a minimum of 1” overlap onto the first layer of Denso Hi-Tack Tape.

Apply Denso FB 30 Tape starting a minimum of 1” below the Denso Hi-Tack Tape and proceed circumferentially around the concrete and steel tank base.

If a second layer of Denso FB 30 Tape is required to cover at least 1” over the Denso Hi-Tack Tape onto the steel tank base, it shall be applied with a minimum of 1” overlap onto the first layer of Denso FB 30 Tape. Make sure all seams and overlaps are pressed out and adhered.

Mix thoroughly to achieve an even colour. Apply by brush as a topcoat to the Denso FB 30 Tape at approximately 18 to 20 mils.
