• Comprehensive Plating System - providing Anatomical Volar and Dorsal, Universal Volar and Fragment Specific Solutions, even for the most complex distal radius fracture.

• Fixed Angle Drill Guide - assures placement of screws & pegs in a pre-determined angle.

• New Anatomical Volar Plate - encourages articular support with Locking screws & pegs, provides optimal buttressing to the volar lunate facet and stable fixation of radial styloid fragments with two screws.

• Polyaxial Drill Guide - allows locking with an additional angulation of ±15 degrees in any hole on the plate, except the oblong hole in the shaft.

• Full range of 2.0mm to 2.7mm Locking and Non-Locking screws & pegs - offering intraoperative solutions for different fracture fixation requirements.

Indications:

Intra-articular and extra-articular fractures of the distal radius. Reconstruction of the distal radius.

Type II Anodization:

Type II Anodization treatment of the plates reduces the incidence of tissue adherence while improving biomechanical performance and tissue glide.

SmartLock Locking Technology

• Patented SmartLock Locking Technology - encourages "locked" screw to plate interface due to combination of Grade II - Ti Plates and Grade V - Ti Screws & Pegs.

• SmartLock Locking Screws & Pegs - designed with threads on the underside of the screw head, which upon insertion engage the circular "lip" within any hole on the plate, except the oblong hole in the shaft.

• Unique one-step Locking - is achieved by simply inserting a Locking Screw or Peg within the polyaxial locking range of ±15 degrees, without the need for further steps.

VariAx™ - The Distal Radius Locking Plate System that offers you both Fixed Angle Locking in a pre-determined screw pattern and Polyaxial Locking within a range of ±15 degrees.

Instruments

Innovative Instrumentation

The use of unique instrumentation offered in the VariAxTM Distal Radius System allows for fast implantation and more efficient use of OR time.

• New Depth Gauge design can be utilized in a single or two hand mode according to the surgeons´ preference

• Zebra Striped K-Wires offer markings in 5mm increments.

• The K-Wire Bender/Cutter offers the ability to bend and cut the k-wires as well as aids in the k-wire insertion process for proper fracture fixation. This multi-use tool helps to decrease the use of multiple instruments which could lengthen OR time and decrease efficiency.

• K-Wires with olive-stops provide option to temporarily fix the plate to the bone

• Double-sided instruments offer easy handling during surgery.

• The SmartLock Polyaxial Drill Guide allows for ±15 degrees of custom angulation. This may allow for the surgeon to aim where the screw/peg should be placed.

• The Fixed Angle Drill Guide is designed to provide same placement of screw options in every case. It allows to follow the pre-determined screw pattern of the left and right volar plates in cases where variable angle locking is not required.
