He is a member of the International Association of Buddhist Studies and Polish Oriental Society. He is also the chairman, Committee of Oriental Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences (from 2007). From 2004 he is also the president of the Polish–Sri Lanka Friendship Association. He is the editor-in-chief of Studia Indologiczne, a Polish journal of Indology, published by the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Warsaw. He was a guest professor at the International College for Advanced Buddhist Studies, Tokyo, Japan (2000). He was a nominated Professor in Indology at the Poznań University (1999) and the University of Warsaw(1999). He visited India at the invitation of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (‘Distinguished Visitor’s Program’) in the year 1998 and 1999. He was also the Visiting Research Fellow at The International Institute for Buddhist Studies, Tokyo (1990-1992). He was also Michael Coulson Junior Research Fellow, in Wolfson College, Oxford. He is well versed in different languages like English, German, Russian, French, Sanskrit, Pali, Tibetan and Chinese. To his credit, he has also published many books and articles in international journals pertaining to Buddhism. One of his significant publication is Vasubandhu’s Abhidharma-kośa and the Commentaries Preserved in the Tanjur.

Dr. Marek Adam Mejor, a Polish National, is a Professor and Head, Research Section for Buddhist Studies University of Warsaw, Poland.He is a member of the International Association of Buddhist Studies and Polish Oriental Society.
