I do know from listening to her that she along with Marge Desmery would love to have more volunteers for the kitchen work at the club. If you have any interest in helping, contact either one of these ladies, and they will put you in the training program to become a kitchen helper. It’s a relatively short program consisting of five or six days, four hours each day. The test at the end of this training period is not difficult, and anyone receiving a grade of C+ or better will be allowed to begin kitchen duty. If you fail the test, you will be allowed to take it a second time, even a third time if your a male. June, July, and August are the months that we

are allowed to hold North American Pair games.

and a recap of all the North-South contracts and

scores is also listed.

Our June 21, the morning and afternoon games

will be charity games to benefit the Alzheimer’s

Association to support its care and research

programs. The ACBL is calling it “The Longest

Day,” and is a fundraiser to honor the passion,

dedication, and strength displayed by people

with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers every day.

Extra master-points will be awarded.

Many thanks to Marge Desmery, hospitality

chairwoman, for all the delicious snacks

served at the Club on June 4. Helen White,

Tom Pierpont, Ann & Dick Bottelli, Sally

Corcoran, and Melody Gabriel also donated

items. Speaking of hospitality, the Board voted

to reserve a parking space for the kitchen

volunteer of the day. I know everyone

appreciates the volunteers who help with our

daily hospitality in the kitchen, but we need

more volunteers to join in on this effort because

we all enjoy having a snack while playing bridge.

It’s very easy to be a kitchen volunteer. You can

choose your own day and then just come in

(after having parked in your reserved space!)

and use the foods that are in the cupboards or

refrigerator (thanks to our shopper, Jim

Greene) and put it out, then tidy up the kitchen

after the game. Please consider volunteering.

Even, once a month would be wonderful.

We will be having our Firecracker hot dog

lunch on July 4 and will appreciate donations of

side dishes or desserts. We’ll have sign-up

sheets posted on June 25.

Birthday chairman, Sally Corcoran, always

does a fantastic job with the birthday bulletin

boards and cakes and has recruited Judy

Melchiorre (who is responsible for this month’s

creative bulletin board) to contribute her

talents. Thank you, Sally and Judy!
