Examination specifications

Overall conditionsThe examination will be sat at a time and date to be set annually by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA).There will be 15 minutes reading time and 2 hours writing time.VCAA examination rules will apply. Details of these rules are published annually in the VCE and VCAL Administrative Handbook.The examination will be marked by a panel appointed by the VCAA.The examination will contribute 50 per cent to the study score.

ContentThe VCE Health and Human Development Study Design 2014–2017 is the document for the development of the examination. All outcomes in Units 3 and 4 will be examined.All of the key knowledge and skills that underpin the outcomes in Units 3 and 4 are examinable.

FormatThe examination will be presented in a question and answer book. The examination will consist of an appropriate balance of short-answer, multiple-part and extended-response questions. All of the questions in the examination will be compulsory. The examination will be worth a total of 100 marks.

AdviceDuring the 2014–2017 accreditation period for VCE Health and Human Development, examinations will be prepared according to the examination specifications above. Each examination will conform to these specifications and will test a representative sample of the key knowledge and skills.A sample examination has been supplied as there have been changes in the content and format of the study design and the examination.Teachers and students, in preparation for the examination, should use the sample examination as a guide.The marks allocated to individual questions may vary from year to year. Each question will be followed by lined spaces that will provide a guide to the length of the written response anticipated. Further guidance will be provided by the number of marks allocated to each question, which will be clearly stated next to each question.The VCAA does not publish answers to sample examinations.
