2B P2: Describe the audience and purpose for the design of a graphic

Choose your design brief and describe the purpose and audience for each graphic

(a) Create annotated designs for one bitmap and one vector graphic image. Both images will include text. The purpose and audience for my graphics are to show that they are intended for people aged between 14-30. Both my graphics have been intended for the same target audience, as it gave the information in our design brief on what the target audience should be. I have made sure that my designs meet this target audience by making sure that my graphics are appealing by making them bright coloured and eye catching, so that it will want to make them buy it. Also my design is fit for the intended target audience by making sure that I add all the required information on the magazine cover, so that it will be easier for the target audience to be able to see what’s inside the magazine.

I have added on both magazine cover graphic ideas a large picture displaying what the magazine is about, this is good as it will appeal more to the target audience who will like the graphic rather than more text. I have added less text, so that it will appeal to the intended target audience better, but the text I will add will be related to the magazine and what will be inside the magazine. This is good as it helps the reader to understand what to except in the magazine when reading it or buying it in the shop. The text on the cover will also make more people buy the magazine as it help the target audience to understand the magazines content.

This magazine cover is aimed at people between the ages of 14-30 and this cover meets the required target audience very well. It gives the reader

the impression that he is in battle as he is kneeling down.

I have used this background to display a paint-ball arena.

Paint splat is used to show that the paint-baller is in battle.

This image appeals well to the target audience of 14-30 year olds.

I have added an outline of a paint-baller. This is good as it displays well what the magazine is about.

Informative text will be added at the bottom of the design, so that it will help the intended target audience to understand what’s inside the magazine.

I think that this cover could be mistaken for a children’s magazine cover rather than a paint-ball cover.

Behind my cartoon paint-baller I have added a paint splat to act as he just got hit by a paint-ball.

I have picked this background as it links into paintball nicely.

I have chosen a cartoon paint-baller but I think it looks to informal and may be mistaken to not being a paint-ball cover.

2B M2: Produce detailed graphic product designs, including reasons why alternative ideas have been discarded

I have picked the graphic at the top as I think it meets the required target audience better than the graphic at the bottom. I think the graphic at the top is more suited as it is more professional looking rather than then the one at the bottom looks more like a child’s magazine cover rather than a magazine cover aimed at 14-30 year olds. The graphic at the top is more suited in that way because people will take it more seriously than the graphic at the bottom, as the target audience will think that it is not targeted at their age group and this means that they will not buy it.

I have made the graphic at the top simple so that it will easy to be seen and what the magazine is about and what it will contain, rather than the graphic at the bottom which could get confused and people may think they are targeting a different audience and it also may get confused as not a paintball magazine cover as it is to informal to look at, as it looks more informal.

2B D2: Justify the final design decisions, explaining how they will: (i) fulfil the stated purpose and requirements in the brief (ii) meet the needs of the audience.

(i) My design will meet the requirements in the design brief as I will read through the design brief carefully and make sure that I include all the relevant information that I need to include from the design brief. I have added the correct information into my designs, by making sure that all my designs fit into the age group 14-30 year olds. I have made sure that I have related to the relevant target audience by making sure that I add images that the required target audience would like. Also I will make sure that I fulfil the requirements by making sure everything I add onto my designs is relevant to paint-ballers.

(ii) I have met the needs of the required target audience by making sure that all the images and text that I add onto my designs will be relevant to the target audience and that would also appeal to them. On my designs I have added paint-ball related images that would relate to my target audience, this is good because it will make the required target audience want to read the magazine therefore

meeting the audience’s needs. I will also make sure that the required needs are met so that the magazine will be liked by the target audience and want to be bought again.
