Jimmy Greene QuintetSaxophonist Jimmy Greene is “without doubt one of the most striking young tenors ofrecent years” (Jazzwise). In addition to his recordings and performances as a bandleader,he can be heard on over 75 albums and has appeared with artists Freddie Hubbard, HarryConnick, Jr., and Horace Silver, to name a few. He makes his Miller debut with his Quintetin tow.

A native of Hartford, CT, Jimmy Greene is a GRAMMY® nominated saxophonist,composer, and arranger. First runner-up in the 1996 Thelonious Monk International JazzSaxophone Competition and one of DownBeat’s "25 Young Rising Stars in Jazz” in 1999,Greene is considered one of the most respected saxophonists of his generation.

In 2014, Greene wrote and recorded an album that no parent should ever have to make:Beautiful Life, which celebrated the life of Ana Márquez-Greene, his six-year-old daughterwho was murdered along with 19 other children and six educators on December 14, 2012 atSandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. He continues to honor and memorializeher spirit with Flowers (2017), his second release for Mack Avenue Records.

Composers Octet, and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, among many others. As a member ofHarry Connick Jr.'s Big Band, he is a featured soloist on 2 DVD releases, Harry for theHolidays and Only You. Greene’s solo recordings include GRAMMY® nominatedBeautiful Life (Mack Avenue); Live at Smalls (SmallsLive); Mission Statement(RazDaz/Sunnyside); The Overcomers Suite (NuJazz); Gifts and Givers, True Life Stories,Forever, and Introducing Jimmy Greene (Criss Cross); and Brand New World and Live atBirdland (RCA Victor).

The Jimmy Greene Quartet performs regularly in jazz venues, festivals, and clubsworldwide, including the Jazz Standard (New York), Le Club (Moscow), Casa del Jazz(Rome), Sunside Jazz Club (Paris), Red Sea Jazz Festival (Israel), Lapataia Jazz Festival(Uruguay), and Amazonas Jazz Festival (Brazil). As a composer, Greene has won numerousawards including the ASCAP/IAJE Commission in honor of Ornette Coleman; the State ofConnecticut Governor's Arts Award in Music; and the City of Hartford's Innovator Awardin Music, among others.

Greene holds a D.M.A. in Jazz Arts Advancement from the Manhattan School of Music, anM.M. in Music Education from Boston University and a B.M. in African-American MusicStudies from The Hartt School of the University of Hartford. He is Associate Professor ofMusic and Co-Coordinator of Jazz Studies at Western Connecticut State University inDanbury, CT. He is a clinician for Borgani Saxophones and Vandoren mouthpieces, reeds,and ligatures and uses their products exclusively.

Lage Lund is considered to be of the finest guitarists of his generation. Born and raised inNorway, Lund relocated to Boston after high school on a scholarship to Berklee College ofMusic. In 2002, he moved to New York City and became the first electric guitarist ever toenroll at The Juilliard School of Music. A regular in DownBeat Critic’s Poll “Rising star –Guitar” category, he has been hailed by Pat Metheny as a favorite young guitarist, and is“all music and all soul” according to Russell Malone, one of the judges who awarded Lundtop prize in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition.

In the years since his Monk Competition award, he has become a sought-after sidemanwith the David Sanchez Quartet, the Maria Schneider Orchestra, Mark Turner, SeamusBlake, and many more, with frequent appearances and tours in the U.S., Europe, Asia, andother countries. Recordings include three releases featuring bassist Ben Street and

drummer Bill Stewart and, most recently, Terrible Animals (2019). With a growing andimpressive body of original compositions, and mastery of the standard repertoire, Lund isamong those setting the agenda for jazz improvisation in the twenty-first century.

Hailed by DownBeat for his “quick-witted harmonic reflexes, fluid command of line andcut-to-the-chase sense of narrative logic,” Aaron Goldberg is considered one of jazz’s mostcompelling pianists. He has produced five acclaimed trio albums and over 80 others as aco-leader and collaborator.

After receiving awards from Berklee College of Music and DownBeat Magazine, Goldbergmoved to New York City at the age of 17 to attend the New School for Jazz andContemporary Music. He returned to Boston a year later to finish his degree at HarvardCollege, juggling his studies with performing in Boston and New York City, including amulti-year association with Betty Carter. He returned to New York City after graduationand formed his first long-standing trio featuring Reuben Rogers and Eric Harland, andbegan touring worldwide with Joshua Redman, Wynton Marsalis, Al Foster, and KurtRosenwinkel.

For 16 years, Goldberg has produced and performed in Jazz for America’s Future—benefitconcerts for the presidential campaigns of John Kerry, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton.He is also a frequent visitor to Haiti for educational and musical projects, the co-arrangerand composer of the Baby Loves Jazz collection of books and CDs, and the musicaldirector of All Souls at Sundown, a jazz and poetry series in New York City. Goldberg is afaculty member at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and William PatersonUniversity.

Reuben Rogers combines the calypso and reggae rhythms of his native Virgin Islands withthe gospel sounds of the church and the freedom and improvisation of jazz to create aunique chemistry that makes make him one of the most distinctive and in-demand bassistsin modern jazz. Born in 1974, Rogers was always drawn to music and dabbled with the

clarinet, piano, drums, and guitar before discovering his true passion in the bass.

Rogers’ mastery of both the acoustic and electric bass has led to opportunities alongsidemany notable artists including Charles Lloyd, Wynton Marsalis, Joshua Redman, TomaszStanko, Marcus Roberts, Nicholas Payton, Mulgrew Miller, Jackie McLean, and DianneReeves, among others. Over the last two decades, he has been featured on more than 100recordings—including his sole release as a leader, the 2006 all-star session The Things IAm—and countless international tours. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Rogersleads numerous workshops, clinics, and master classes around the world.

Kendrick Scott was born in Houston, Texas and grew up in a family of musicians. By ageeight he had taken up the drums and later attended Houston’s renowned High School forthe Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA), a school which has produced an impressive arrayof musical talent including Scott’s label mates Jason Moran and Robert Glasper, as well aspop-star Beyoncé, among others. While still attending HSPVA, Scott won severalDownBeat student awards, as well as the Clifford Brown/Stan Getz Award from theInternational Association of Jazz Educators. He was later awarded a scholarship to attendBerklee College of Music, where he majored in music education.

Scott moved to New York City in 2003, performing and recording for Blue Note intrumpeter Terence Blanchard’s band, appearing on several of the trumpeter’s Blue Notealbums including Flow (2005), A Tale of God’s Will (2007), and Magnetic (2013). Inaddition to Blanchard, Scott has toured with Herbie Hancock, Charles Lloyd, TheCrusaders, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Kurt Elling. He has released three albums as abandleader including two previous albums with his band Kendrick Scott Oracle: TheSource (2007) and Conviction (2013). Scott is a member of the Blue Note Records 75thAnniversary all-star band that includes Ambrose Akinmusire, Robert Glasper, DerrickHodge, Lionel Loueke, and Marcus Strickland.
