Organizational Description

The Center for the Development of Recycling (CDR) is a non-profit organization

providing recycling-related information to Santa Clara County residents, businesses, and

local governments. CDR is contracted with Santa Clara County to operate its Recycling

Hotline. The hotline is staffed 9:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Hotline

information is also available at www.RecycleStuff.org.

As part of San Jose State University’s Department of Environmental Studies, CDR

organizes students to staff the hotline and to research and develop its information

resources. The partnership between the County and SJSU provides residents and

businesses with a cost-efficient information service while students gain valuable public

service experience and develop project management and information dissemination skills.
