SHELTER-IN-PLACE You’ve likely heard that Santa Clara County, along with 6 other Bay Area jurisdictions, has extended the shelter- in-place order through May 31st. This is to help continue slowing the number of new cases while additional testing, tools, and measures become available for a safe transition back towards pre COVID-19 lifestyles. For most, this extension is largely a continuation of the order placed in March. However, there are some updated guidelines and definitions in certain areas, particularly in regards to exemptions and “essential businesses.” If you haven’t done so already, you are encouraged to read the official order, available at https://www.sccgov. org/sites/covid19/Pages/order-health-officer-050420. aspx As mentioned in April’s edition of the Villager, Sunnyvale Community Services (SCS) is still open to the Sunnyvale community to provide support and emergency assistance to those facing financial hardship, homelessness, and hunger. LVNA VILLAGER | MAY 2020 03

PET OF THE MONTHHi everyone! I’m Ember. I was rescued when I was about 6 months old, which is basically forever ago since my first birthday is next week. I love playing fetch with my favorite toy - “poofs” (craft glitter pom-poms). I’m super friendly but I’m an indoor kitty

so you probably won’t see me out and about...unless my parents put me in that awful harness again. Such a fashion faux “paw”!

JUNE

As we continue to practice social-distancing measures, you may have noticed an increase in trash production at home. Did you know that you can place 2 additional trash bags out at the curb on collection day, for FREE?

In Lakewood Village, this service is performed by a separate collections vehicle so the cart may be emptied before/after the additional bags are collected.

For more information on this temporary service, visit https://sunnyvale.ca.gov/news/topics/coronavirus.htm and click “Garbage and Recycling.”
