Dear Readers,

Thank you to our participants within this yearbook, and thank you to the reader for picking up a copy of this yearbook! As you can read from our mission, we’re trying to bring our Vietnamese American community a little bit closer together. A friend of ours once asked “What is there to do in the Vietnamese community?” Although we knew there were plenty of things to do, we didn’t quite know how to fit her interests to the right organization. And it dawned on us that we didn’t know a lot of organizations out there that we should’ve known. And so this yearbook will hopefully shed some light on the amazing work that people are involved in.

The main function of all nonprofit organizations is to increase people’s quality of life. We are humbled by the thought that everyone is contributing to that in both small and big ways, and so, why not recognize their work? It’s not really for awards that we recognize them, but rather to inspire others to follow in their footsteps. We at CayDa Foundation will support these wonderful individuals and organiza-tions as much as we can. We hope you find the time to get to know others in our Northern California village in building a vibrant Vietnamese community.

Although we didn’t get as many submissions this year as we had hoped, we do feel that once people get used to the idea of a yearbook, it’ll naturally grow. We already got feedback from groups wanting to see more content, such as being able to list programs and projects. Whatever suggestions you have, feel free to let us know at [email protected], and we will take it under consideration for our next yearbook edition aimed for January 2013.

Finally we would like to thank Thằng Mõ Media for supporting this project.

Sincerely,

VIP2012 Yearbook CommitteeCayDa Foundation
