The National Skill Development Agency (NSDA)
An autonomous body of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, whichwill coordinate and harmonize the skill development efforts of the Government andthe private sector to achieve the skilling targets of the 12th Plan and beyond andendeavour to bridge the social, regional, gender and economic divide:

I.Amendments to the Apprentices Act, 1961The Act has been amended and brought into effect from 22nd December,2014. The Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 have also been amended from 18th
June, 2015. Key changes are:
• Establishments have been allowed to engage apprentices in a band of2.5% to 10% of total strength of establishment including contractualworkers.
• Apprenticeship training in optional trades also.
• Scope has been extended to non-engineering occupations also.
• Establishments have been permitted to outsource basic training in aninstitute of their choice.
• Submission of returns and other information through on-line portal with timebound approval.

Initiatives for Quality improvement
A new scheme of Grading of ITIs is on the anvil.
Developing IT system to cover all aspects of ITI system from on-line admission to certificate generation(MIS)
Capacity building of all ITI Principals in institutes of reputesuch as IIM, ASCI, IIFT, MDI
