Objectives:Building Vocabulary

Improves the quality of written compositions

Makes your writing more interesting!!!!

Reinforces grammar skills including sentence structure, punctuation, and spelling

How does it work? Vocabulary homework is assigned the

first day of the school week and is due the last day of the school week › 10 points for each assignment› 80 – 90 points per nine weeks (!!!)

It is your responsibility to get the vocabulary packet and definitions if you are absent.› Extra packet copies› Definitions

Homework Requirements

The homework assignment is always the packet and ten sentences.› You must complete the packet and the sentences to receive credit.

› There is NO partial credit for completing one part of the assignment.

Quality Sentences

The meaning of the vocabulary word in the sentence must be clear.

Each sentence must be at least SEVEN words in length and include proper capitalization and punctuation.

You may print or write in cursive, but your work must be LEGIBLE.

Sentence Examples

Why are these examples better?› A ripe, red watermelon is a perfect

summertime fruit to eat.› My brother loved to spit the

watermelon seeds as far as he could after he was finished eating the juicy fruit.
