Term 3 Begins Welcome back to Term 3. All students have returned happy and refreshed, and have quickly settled into teaching and learning programs. We welcome new families and their children into our school community and trust you find Yakamia Primary School to be a warm, friendly and safe school where relationships are valued, developed and fostered. Welcome also to Mr Dylan Burns, who will be teaching in Room 24 while Mr Freeman is on leave. Term Planner A term planner with key dates for Term 3 has been attached to this newsletter email for your information. Please keep the planner in a prominent position, such as on your fridge, to remind you of important dates this term. Any changes to the planner will be communicated through subsequent newsletters. Assembly The next assembly is Friday, 31 July at 9am. It will be hosted by Room 35. We hope to see you there! NAIDOC Week NAIDOC celebrations were held at the end of last term. Well done to all the staff, parents and students involved in the activities. The speaking at the assembly, the damper making and the art activities were fantastic!     term. Well done to all the staff, parents and

  • Spelling Challenge

    Yakamia will run an in-school Spelling Challenge

    again this year. It has been scheduled for the 20

    August.

    The Albany Primary Schools Spelling

    Championship to be held again on 15 September

    at Denmark PS. Our school will select two teams

    of our best spellers in Year 3 and 4 and two teams

    of our best spellers in Year 5 and 6.

    Mr Mackenzie will coordinate the challenge so

    please keep an eye out for more information about

    this in the weeks ahead.

    Marble Season Rules

    Marble season will run for the month of August. Here is a reminder of the rules.

    1. Agree on the rules before you start playing.

    2. If you are playing for keeps, you can only play with your year level.

    3. Marbles can only be played on the grass areas.

    4. You are allowed a maximum of 20 marbles at school.

    5. Your marbles must be smaller than a table-tennis ball.

    6. No steelies or ball-bearings are allowed.

    7. Please play carefully, eg no throwing marbles.

    Yakamia Nature Playgrounds P & C Raffle

    Only 5 days left to be in the draw for any of these fantastic prizes!

    The Xmas in July raffle will close on Tuesday 28 July so if you havent already purchased your ticket

    please do before Tuesday! Tickets are available at the school office and the raffle will be drawn at

    next weeks assembly. Funds raised will be used for developing nature playgrounds in the Year 1-6

    primary areas.

    Thank you to parents who have raffle books, please return ticket butts & money to the office by

    Friday or Monday morning.
