Shri. Bhaskar Rao, IPS,Commissioner of Police,Bangalore, thought that thepaintings offered”learning” forfuture generations. He alsocommented on these difficulttimes due to the coronavirusoutbreak and linked it to thepaintings “We have realised thatthe way out is going back tobasics like using namaste forgreeting people instead of a
handshake. It’s time to go backto Mother nature.
And this is what Suresh’spaintings are telling us. They aretaking us back to the life as it wasin the past. His paintings depictsuch simplicity and divinity.”Hence, it is time we gave up ourarrogance, and surrender to ahigher being, and to put an end toour need for possessing this andthat, for when will that ever end?
Shri. Chiranjeev Singh, IAS,(Retd.) former Ambassador toUNESCO, congratulated Shri.Suresh and spoke about howIndian music is unique which hasa co-mingling of the physical andthe spiritual. He added that theroots of our music spring fromthe chanting of the Saamaveda.

14
And the music that comes fromthe Saamaveda is thereforedivine. He also quoted GuruGobind, chanting “Namo GeethaGeethe, Namo Naada Naade,NamoTaalaTaale…”.
Explaining the words, heelaborated, “The essential part ofthis is that we see divinity ineverything. In fact, the paintingsare about man’s relationship withthe universe and you realise thatthere is divinity in everything.India’s is the only music traditionthat has the concept of NadaBrahma. The spiritual and thesecular, timeliness and the timely, both are combined in our musicaltradition. That is what Suresh hastried to combine in the paintings –the South Indian Carnatic andthe North Indian Hindustanimusic. The tradition of paintingRaagmala did exist in NorthIndian paintings as in Rajasthaniand Punjabi pahadi paintingtraditions. However, what isunique here is that Suresh hascombined Raagmala paintings inboth the styles, Hindustani andCarnatic (as based in Sri-Tattva-Nidhi).”
He continued, “As BhaskarRao said, this is also aboutpassing on the tradition to the
next generation. He also said thatit was time for surrendering to thedivine, though he said it in thecontext of the coronavirus. But inthe context of the paintings, hiswords are very valuable. Whenyou realise that you are just abundle of energy and you see inthese paintings the mooladharachakra that is related to sa, yourealise that everything isconnected.
This is where the value ofhis paintings come in. You havethe chakras and the svaras, andtheir relationship. And also thatbetween Hindustani and Carnaticmusic. That’s somethingmarvellous and unique. I hopethe publication by M.P. BirlaInstitute of Management on thisexhibition reaches far and wide. This heritage must be passed onto the next generation.”
Concluding, he said that theyhad all come together in spite ofthe coronavirus scare and out ofrespect for Suresh. “May you gofar, Suresh, and may you alsotake us along with you,”he remarked.
Shri. N. Ramanuja,Chairman of Bharatiya VidyaBhavan, Bengaluru Kendra, remembered that he had had the
15
privilege of taking Shri. Suresh’searlier exhibition of paintings onNakshatras and rashis to manyplaces in India U.K. andAmerica. Now, these paintingsmust be taken all over the world, too.
Shri P. Venugopal, RegionalDirector, then offered the vote ofthanks and especially thankedBharatiya Vidya Bhavan foroffering him an opportunity tosupport the event along withother collaborators.
