They go to a radiologic sciences meeting. On June 23-26, 2016 hundreds of medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals met in Las Vegas, Nevada to network, learn and make decisions that will influence how radiologic science practitioners across the United States perform their jobs. The resounding theme of the meeting expressed by the ASRT Board of Directors and CEO Sal Martino was “I AM A RADIOLOGIC SCIENCES PROFESSIONAL”. As a radiographer and delegate from the state of Connecticut, I attended the ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting representing the interests of the radiographers in Connecticut. We may be a small state, but we were definitely represented by some pretty amazing imaging and therapy professionals. Diane Kosenko, RT (R)(CT) from Bristol is the current Treasurer of the CSRT, she is also the Chair of the ASRT Committee on Advocacy in Radiologic Technology and Region 9 Leader. Kori Stewart, RT (R)(CT) from East Haven, the current Secretary of the CSRT, provided an educational presentation “Biomedical Informatics and Imaging Systems in Radiology: Applications, Integrations and Evolution.” Daniel DeMaio, RT (R)(CT) from West Simsbury, current President- elect of the CSRT and the Chair of the ASRT Practice Standards Committee, provided an educational presentation “Shielding in CT: An Update for 2016.” There were three students representing Connecticut in the ASRT Student Leadership Academy: Blenda Church, a Radiation Therapy student at Manchester Community College, Elizabeth Ragozzino and Rachelle Borges, both radiography students at University of Hartford. There were light hearted moments during the annual pin exchange and during breaks in the exhibit hall, but there were also many serious moments during open forums, ASRT, ARRT, and JRCERT Updates, Honors Event, and of course the Installation of Officers followed by the President’s Reception. There were chapter meetings to attend where various areas of interest specific to our imaging and therapy disciplines were discussed. Of course, there was the House of Delegates where the ASRT By-Laws were reviewed, amended and CSRT Connecticut Society of Radiologic Technologists President’s Message & ASRT Delegate Report Newsline Summer 2016
