Steve’s outside working on the ‘80 MGB so I will fill in once again and write his Presi-dent message. It’s been so hot or rainy we haven’t had our LBC out. With cooler weather hopefully coming soon we’ll put together out-ings. If anyone has an outing they would like to put together for the club they are more than welcome.
So far we have in the plan-ning stage an outing at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona Beach. They are
interested in our club displaying our cars at the museum on a Sat-urday in September or Octo-ber. The Club Christmas Party will be December 9th this year. I know it’s too hot to think about Christmas but do plan to come please. The more the merrier.

We all like to work on our cars and do as much as we can on its restoration. Whether it is for the self-satisfaction or to save a few bucks.
Here are a few tips to help us look out for our safety. If you do your own painting ask the paint supplier, were you buy the paint, what type of respirator you will need. Today’s paint can be very dangerous. It’s not like the paint of years ago. There are respirators that have canisters, some have filters and some have both filters and canisters. There are respirators that have supplied air pumped in from a clean area. There are respirators that have absorbent canisters that remove gas and organic vapors. Some only remove dust par-ticles. Some remove acid gases such as muriatic acid that is to remove rust.
So remember muriatic acid is another way to say hydrochloric acid. We all know what that does to eyes, nose and lungs. If you are using a fan (explosion proof motor) remember the air you push out the window has to be replaced, so make sure that there is no vent for a gas heater, or water heater in the area. This can be a good place to get the replacement air. The air replaced this way can pull in carbon monoxide along with the air. The red blood cells that carry oxygen to the tissue really like the carbon monoxide. If they have the choice the red blood cells will take in the carbon monoxide. Our tissue can’t process the carbon monox-ide, so if we get enough we will become asphyxiated.
One of the first symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning is a headache across the forehead. So lets all use caution, so that we will be able to enjoy that car we are restoring.
