From the Pastor’s Desk
Brothers and Sisters, we are once again on the
threshold of the most sacred season on the Christian
Calendar, the season of Lent. We should be forever
mindful that during the first Lenten season, Jesus
endured unspeakable sufferings and ultimate death on
Calvary’s Cross to secure our salvation. In His
display of Agape Love for us, Jesus endured the full
wrath of God for our sins, and He, by His death, took
away forever the brutal sting of death for His
children.
The cross therefore, remains the chief symbol and
defining practicality of our Christian faith. We
rejoice in the cross, because it is empty now, and our
Savior, Jesus Christ who once hanged on it, is now
seated at God’s right hand interceding for us. His
death and resurrection has offered sinners an
opportunity to experience new life in Him and hope
to a fallen world. During this Lenten season, let us
walk the Lenten journey with Jesus. Let us walk with
Him to Calvary and reflect on God’s amazing love
for us and what Jesus endured for our sake. Our
Lamb has truly conquered, let us follow Him.
Let me remind you that February 14th is Ash
Wednesday. On that day we will have Ash
Wednesday Service starting at 7PM. The following
Wednesdays from February 21 to March 21 we will
meet in the fellowship hall at 5:30 PM for light
refreshments followed by a Lenten discussion from
materials prepared by Brother John Wallace. During
Holy Week, we will meet at 7PM Monday to
Thursday for readings from the Passion Manual and
Holy Communion on Maundy Thursday. On Good
Friday we will meet at 2 PM for Good Friday service.
I hope you will make plans to participate in as many
of these services as possible especially on Good
Friday.
On your 2018 Calendar of Activities April 15th is
listed as Grandparent’s Sunday. On that Sunday you
are asked to invite your grand-children to church for
a celebration of grandparents. I am asking you to give
me in advance, pictures of you and your grand-
children taken together so that we can display them
on the multimedia in church that day. Lunch will be
served in the fellowship hall after worship.
As you know, Birthday Sunday is now being
observed on the first Sunday in each month. January
was sponsored by the Fait’s family and it went very
well. Birthday Sunday for April will be on April 8
because Easter falls on the first Sunday.
As we prepare to start the Lenten season, I invite all
of us to take some time for introspection. Let re-
evaluate our relationship with Christ and take the
steps necessary to draw closer to Him.
May the peace of Christ be with you all.
Pastor Lloyd

2018 Lenten Journey:
“Forging Our Faith”
2018
Proverbs 27:17 NIV
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
During our 2018 Lenten journey, our theme is called “Faith & Feelings”. In
these Sunday morning worship sessions, every Moravian Church in the Valley
will be focused on the same theme and similar lessons. How exciting is that?!
“Lent and Lunch”
Also, during our 2018 Lenten journey, the Schoenbrunn Community
Moravian Church will host a weekly “Brown Bag” discussion group on
the “Faith & Feelings” messages. We can deepen our Biblical
understanding, but also share our personal perspective.
Dates: Mondays, February 19 & 26 and March 5, 12 & 19
Time: 12:00 – 1:15 p.m.
Place: Schoenbrunn Community Moravian Church
“Mid-Lent Movie Night”
Sunday, March 11, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Bring the whole family as we gather at Schoenbrunn Community Moravian
Church for a movie night. We will watch the Disney movie “Inside Out”. We
will have snacks and more. What a great night for us as parents and children
of all ages to talk about our “feelings” or just laugh and eat popcorn.
All three of these programs come to you through our
Shared Ministry Opportunities as Moravians in the Tuscarawas Valley.

Thanks to my wonderful church family for being with me to celebrate my surprise Birthday Party!
“God Bless You” Delores Williams
Dear Friends, Thank you for your gift to the ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. This month, many of us will exchange presents with family and friends as part of our Christmas celebrations. We are grateful that you have also chosen
to give a gift to support the work of Samaritan’s Purse. Your partnership helps us to bless people around the world with clean water, food, shelter, medical care and other desperately needed aid. Most of all, your support equips us to share the Light of the Gospel with those who are living in darkness.
Please join us in prayer that hearts will be opened to the Good News of Jesus this Christmas season. “The
people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined” (Isaiah 9:2). May God bless you.
Sincerely, Franklin Graham Dear Family and Friends, Thank you to all who have visited, sent Christmas cards, cards of encouragement, or called. We greatly appreciate it!
