B7C is Chillin’ Like Villians! B7C had an even better week this week thanks to the addition of 7 campers to the group! On his first day of camp, Otto Hegner was able to get all of his arrows on the target at Archery. Shane Steinberg is also an Archery lover and definitely showed improvement on his very first day. Sikander Soerensen also did great at Archery and is a great friend to all the campers. Ari Greenberg learned how to improve his serve at Volleyball and hit several of them right over the net. Rhys Vella really shined in Bas-ketball showing that dribbling is one of his best talents. Joey Haagen loves the games in Instructional Swim and Kunal Yeolekar likes to hang out with all his friends in the pool during Free Swim. Chris Bavaro loved every activity especially the time he got to spend at the pool. Liam Barlow did very well at knockout and will definitely give the counselors a run for their money in basketball. We cannot forget Kirtitej Gandham who had a good time at both knockout and Archery. I personally had a great week and can’t wait for the next one!

1st & 2nd Grade is off to a great start!

The first and second graders are having a fantastic summer so far! Campers are making tons of new friends and having an awesome time with their counselors. The first graders are having a blast! They are adjusting well to camp and are active in all their activities. They are full of energy and loving camp. The second graders are loving their Clubs! Clubs allows campers in second grade to choose from four dif-ferent activities a week. Campers think Clubs are so cool and it has been an exciting addition to their camp experi-ence. With this much fun we cannot wait to see what the rest of the summer will bring. Just a friendly reminder: Please pack two towels and two bathing suits everyday for both swims. If a child has a swim lesson, please pack a third bathing suit for their lesson. It would help us out immensly if all campers could come to camp in a bathing suit with sunscreen already on for Instructional Swim in the morning. Also, labeling all clothing will help reduce the amount of items lost. We so look forward to a sun-sational summer with all of you!

~Jordan & Kelly, 1st & 2nd Grade Division Leaders

The Shining Eagles B3D, otherwise known as The Shining Eagles, had an amazing second week of camp! Jared Ascher loved splish-splashing in the pool during Free Swim. Jesse Beckman showed his Ga-Ga skills by winning first place out of 13 campers, 2 counselors, and a CIT! Christopher Covino showed off his artistic side making a Yoda origami puppet during Arts and Crafts. Jason Ernst was his happy-go-lucky self when playing Minecraft with his pals during Computers. David Farber and Zachary Levin and Jesse Beckman loved Cooking this week! An-drew Melcer enjoyed the Nukem games during Volleyball, saying that it was one of of the best activities of the week. Cameron Ockun and Chad Schreier love to tell stories and riddles everywhere we go. Tyler Ruoff is an All-Star in Football during electives. Max Seidler and Seth Smoller enjoyed the activities and magic show during Magical Mystery Day. Jack Price, the jokester in our group, cannot choose his favorite activity because he loves it all! He truly enjoys everything where he can make his friends laugh. We can’t wait for another exciting week!

Science Rules in S.T.E.M. Welcome to S.T.E.M., one of the new exciteng elec-tives offered here at ELDC this year. We have an incred-ible curriculum planned to entertain and amaze all our of campers. S.T.E.M. soared to new heights during our second week with a paper airplane challenge. We got to see several creations cruise over 25 feet! In electives we learned about worms, made race cars and we worked on several design-your-own projects. The projects we worked on included making scribble ma-chines, hexbugs, parachutes and our very own version of the game Operation. Though challenging tasks; campers designed, tested and revised their designs just like REAL ENGINEERS! We were certainly wowed with some very interesting and creative “out of the box” thinking. Watch out world!

Week one at Ropes focused on the campers getting to know each other with the “Name Game.” We also got to see what we all had in common when we played “The West Wind Blows…” and “What’s Your Name, Where Ya Been?” All of the groups we had did a fantastic job of working together as a team to accomplish various tasks. WOOD SHOP Welcome to Wood Shop 2015! This year we are plan-ning some creative projects that use materials other than wood. One of those projects will be bucket stools where we use concrete as the seat with wooden legs. We’re also using PVC for rain barrels for rain water harvesting. Later on this summer we will use canvas and pipe for our Tee Pee project. Have you seen the Geodesic Dome yet? It’s made with PVC pipe and help together with zip ties and it takes some great teamwork to pull it together. We look forward to seeing you soon in Wood Shop. Do not forget your googles!

It has been an exciting first two weeks at the pools! This week we had over 150 new campers join instruction-al swim! Our top priority for instructional swim is to work on the requirements for the deep water test. Campers are tested on the front crawl, treading, and floating.
