COMMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT“PRESERVING THE PAST FOR THE FUTURE”
I want to thank everyone who helped with the April program dur-ing my absence:
Vice-President Jim Moore for presiding at the meeting and fromwhat I have heard he did a great job!
Dr. Harold Vann for volunteering the use of his laptop and fortaking the time to get trained on the audio equipment. Dr. Vannand Cal worked together to ensure that Cal’s PowerPoint presen-tation would work on Dr. Vann’s equipment.
Billyfrank Morrison for volunteering to take Cal and his wife out todinner and bring them to the meeting.
I did enjoy my trip to the TN Easter Star Grand Chapter, but Icould tell age is catching up. I came home and went to bed andslept and slept and - - - . I am looking forward to next year whenit will be held in Nashville, TN.
The Program Committee is working on finding an alternative tripfor June. The chosen two are not gathering enough interest tomake it feasible to do. When a vote was taken at the past meet-ing only about 10% of the membership voted for either event. SoI have asked Rubye Patch, Chair of the membership Committeeto see what else the committee can come up with. It will be an-nounced at a later date.

MY MOTHER KEPT A GARDEN
My Mother kept a garden,
a garden of the heart,
She planted all the good things
that gave my life it's start.
She turned me to the sunshine
and encouraged me to dream,
Fostering and nurturing
the seeds of self-esteem...
And when the winds and rain came,
she protected me enough-
But not too much because she knew
I'd need to stand up strong and tough.
Her constant good example
always taught me right from wrong-
Markers for my pathway
that will last a lifetime long.
I am my Mother's garden.
I am her legacy-
And I hope today she feels the love
reflected back from me
