Arts & Crafts This week has been incredible in Arts & Crafts. We have been doing a lot of string art such as string dolls, tassel necklaces and arm knitted scarves. We have also been busy creating masterpieces from re-cycled objects found around home and camp. The campers have all been a pleasure to have around.

~Jamie, Arts & Crafts Coordinator

Music Mania! We have been making such beautiful music so far this summer! Our fi rst week was all about ex-ploring the diff erent instruments, their sounds and the rhythms we could make with them. Older camp-ers had the opportunity to rewrite the lyrics to some of their favorite songs, making them their own. The second week of camp was spent being silly and ex-pressive with our body movement. Whether it was Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes or The Hokey Pokey, we were giggling as we sang. This past week, we learned songs all about diff erent sea crea-tures. It was an ocean-tastic time! I look forward to many more marvelous melodies that will make this summer magically musical!

~Jenn, Music Coordinator

Fitness FunThe fi rst three weeks of Fitness have been

fi lled with lots of sunshine, physical challenges, hula hoops and smiles! Zumba has been rocking the dance bunk and we made up some of our own funky moves. Campers in Yoga have been learning a relaxing way to build strength; experimenting with fl ow through nature and animal-themes. More fi tness fun was had with a hula hoop inspired cardio and core strength workout. Finally, the boys in 1st and 2nd grade have been fast and furious during Ninja Warrior courses, dodging water obstacles and diving through hoops! More fi tness fun to come in the weeks ahead!

CRESCENT MUMMY DOGS

Ingredients: 1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury Refrigerated Crescent Din-

ner rolls or 1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury Refrigerated Crescent Dough Sheet

2 1/2 slices American cheese, quartered (2.5 oz) 10 large hot dogs Cooking spray Mustard or ketchup, if desired

Directions: 1. Heat oven to 375°F. 2. If using crescent rolls: Unroll dough; separate

at perforations, creating 4 rectangles. Press perforations to seal. If using dough sheet: Un-roll dough; cut into 4 rectangles.

3. With knife or kitchen scissors, cut each rectan-gle lengthwise into 10 pieces, making a total of 40 pieces of dough. Slice cheese slices into quarters.

4. Wrap 4 pieces of dough around each hot dog and 1/4 slice of cheese to look like “bandag-es,” stretching dough slightly to completely cover hot dog. About 1/2 inch from one end of each hot dog, separate “bandages” so hot dog shows through for “face.” On ungreased large cookie sheet, place wrapped hot dogs (cheese side down); spray dough lightly with cooking spray.

5. Bake 13 to 17 minutes or until dough is light golden brown and hot dogs are hot. With mus-tard, draw features on “face.”

Street Hockey Hockey has been a blast these past few weeks! We have gone over many of the fundamentals like sick handling, passing and receiving a puck. The kids love to hit the back of the net using the diff erent shots that we worked on including the wrist shot, back hand, and slap shot. At the end of each session, we practice the skills we learn in a 5 v 5 scrimmage.

~Andrew, Sports Instructor

Rocketry Eagle’s Landing rocketeers have started the summer off with a blast. We started the summer off by building a new launcher which will allow for simultaneous launches. Nick and I can’t decide which the campers enjoy more, launching or chasing the rockets as they tumble back to Earth. Our rocketry program could really be called fl ight. The reason being is that we not only build model rockets but also air rockets and water rockets. We have also tried kite fl ying. If it can fl y through the air we’d like to try it. It’s a pleasure to see campers develop their skills in rocket building. We know the rocketeers are improving because we have had a record fl ight like this summer of 1067 feet, with a B size engine. During the rest of the summer look for rubber band airplanes called Squirrels, White Wings and Aqua Pods.

~Dave, Rocketry Coordinator & Nick, Instructor

B8B Unstoppable The boys in B8B continue to make camp fun and very tiring for me! Kevin Ernst took a leap and decided to vary the electives he participated in; he went to Cooking and enjoyed it. Caden Gioff re cooled off in the Pool after running around in the sun. Jaden Hecht was one of the many kids that beat me in Tetherball, then Jaden went to the pool to cool off during Free Swim. Tyler Hoff man and Zach Lacerte showed off their athletic ability by dodging, catching and throwing balls in many games of pris-on ball. Justin Levas started off the week having fun at Ga-Ga and showing his goofy side! Jeremy Oliver dominated in Football this week throwing two touch-downs and keeping up with Xavier, one of the coun-selors. Brandon Ruoff loves to play Tetherball, so I decided to challenge him in a couple games. Unfor-tunately, I lost 6 straight games. Tyler Sommer was the fi rst camper to play me in tetherball; we played 4 games and he won 3 of them. He also showed his athletic ability facing off against Josh Stein in Tennis Baseball. They both hit dingers all the way to Ar-chery allowing them to score for their teams. Shane Steinberg has the capability to play and do well in everything; he went from playing Knock-out, to playing other campers in tetherball, to playing tennis baseball. Rhys Vella showed off his shooting skills in basketball, playing knock-out and around the world with me. He also took down Kyle, one of the coun-selors, in Pong pong! B8B is having a great time showing that they have endless amounts of energy.
