As I have said before, I am excited for the New Year and being the Exalted Ruler of an amazing lodge! We have many great members who pull together to get what we need accomplished. We are off to a great start. We had a great time at the 2015 Officer Installation Party and PER Gary’s roasting. Thanks to everyone who attended and hope fun was had by all. Thank you to the staff for a great job. The Chicken Shack was again very successful. Thanks Joan for a great job and to all the volunteers who put many hours in at “The Shack.” Flowers were delivered Easter Morning by our Lodge Chair Officers along with a visit from the Easter Bunny. Later in the afternoon, we had an Easter Egg hunt at the lodge along with hot dogs, fries, and Cokes. Thanks to all the kids and families for taking part in the Lodge’s Easter Party. Be on the lookout for flyers around the lodge. We are going to be having some NASCAR potluck Sundays. Our first potluck will be April 19th, as they will be racing in my home town of Bristol. Whether you are a NASCAR fan or not, come enjoy a great time with food, friends, and family. Other dates for potlucks will be announced weeks in advance.

ELK OF THE YEAR

LEADING KNIGHT On March 11th the incoming officer had there step up night the officers did a great job at their new stations. I presented a very special gavel to our incoming Exalted Ruler that I am sure you will be seeing if you come to a Wednesday night meeting. We had a substitute Esquire that had a really bad time with the ballot boxes it made for a fun night. On April 11, 2015 we will having our annual Clare Culver dinner and auction, Joe Inman and his committee have been hard at work getting ready. If you have any questions please contact Joe. By the time you’re reading this the officers will have been installed into their new stations. This is going to be a very exciting year. Also we’ll be working the Chicken Shack at the Yuma County Fair, as most of you know it is our biggest fund raiser for the Charity Pot. I would like to thank all the volunteers in advance. On Easter Sunday the Knights will be visiting a few convalescent homes and passing out carnations to the residents, and we’ll also be having an Easter Party at the lodge. I would like to thank everyone who’s taken the time to volunteer this last year and in the coming one. Hope to see you all at the lodge.

The Cactus Campers, our travel club, held their annual patio sale to raise funds for their various charities.

NEWS FROMTHE AUXILIARY

Hello Everyone, At our March 3 General Meeting new officers for the 2015-2016 term were elected by unanimous acclamation, Their positions are as follows: President, Jo Beth Sharpensteen; Vice-President, Helen Humbach; Treasurer, Karen Goudy; Recording Secretary, Jean Law rence; Corresponding Secretary, Zee Curtis; Chaplain, Ursula Gist. Nancy Thompson has agreed to continue serving as Parliamentarian and Advisor. Joanne Bartlett will be replacing Fran Parrish as Innerguard. The Installation for new Lodge and Auxiliary Officers took place on March 28, followed by dinner, a “Roast” and band. Thanks to all who worked so hard to put together this wonderful event. During our meeting a brief discussion was held regarding our proposed Fashion Show and Luncheon, which was to be held March 21. It was agreed upon by all members present that there are too many other activities going on within the same time-frame, and it would be best to postpone the event until Fall, which we hope to do. Don’t forget to visit the “Chicken Shack” during the Fair, and enjoy the upcoming Clair Culver BBQ and Auction on April 11. I recently received a “surprise” phone call from Dr. Richard Geyer, informing me that he had come across the original Charter for the Ladies of the Elks!!! The Auxiliary has been searching for this document for years, and Dr. Geyer has offered to deliver it to the Secretary’s Office. We will make plans to formally acknowledge ourappreciation to Dr. Geyer as soon as possible. Auxiliary April birthdays are: Janet Baker (4/2), Geri Gorsegner (4/8), Monica Medlin (4/20), Darlene: Freeman (4/21), Lina Franks (4/26), and Ann Berryman (4/27). Sorry if I didn’t include your birthday, we are updating our roster. The Lunch Bunch will meet at 12:30 on Tuesday, April 14. Hope to see you there.

CACTUS CAMPERS The Cactus Campers campout for March was our annual Bar-B-Q, at Ogilby Flats across the border into California. We did ribs.... Yum..... Everyone ate to much as usual. We had our election of new officers... Our wagonmaster will be Chuck Donaker who has done it before and done a good job. Thanks to last years officers from the Cactus Campers. Our patio sale was sucess thanks to all who donated items for us to sell... I know I am repeating myself... But again thanks to all that helped out in any capacity. Our Cactus Camper quilting group has been busy making quilts for the Safehouse. We have been working with the quilting group that meets at the Foothills library, we donate what we make to this group. April’s campout will be in an RV park as it is heating up. Please give Chuck Donaker a call at 928- 503-2703 or myself a call if you are interested in coming to find out what all the fun is about.
