Week 5 & 6: Connecting & Serving!

Instead of following a Group Discussion, use these first two weeks in December to

● Serve somewhere in your community, and

● Have fun together!

You could easily just have a meal together - or you may also want to consider:

● Including any children in your Group and having a family Advent activity,

such as making Advent wreaths

● Caroling your neighborhood and passing out invitations to Discovery’s

Christmas services. It’s AMAZING how enthusiastically people receive this

kind of caroling and invitations!

● Attending Zoolights or some kind of Christmas celebration together. Be

sensitive about doing activities that have a fee. That can present a hardship

to some in your Group - and they may not be comfortable letting you know.

● Some of Discovery’s Young Adults are planning a Christmas-themed Worship

Night for the week prior to Christmas. Plan to join them! (Details pending…)

A few outreach ideas:

● On Saturday, Dec 8 PAVE is hosting a Santa Breakfast for families with

disabilities (neurotypical families welcome as well!). If Discovery has

volunteers there, we could also have Christmas service invitations available.

Contact Doreen Vandervort [email protected] for more information.

● On the evening of Sunday, Dec 16 Discovery will host a Christmas Party as

an outreach for local elementary age kids, followed by caroling. Plan to join

one or both parts of that evening!

● Many communities have LOTS of opportunities for serving in December. Look

at the events happening right in your neighborhood or community and

connect with those!
