WELCOME

It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the 2015 Waco Cultural Arts Fest and join together in celebrating another year of innovation, creativity and originality. In its 12th year this signature Waco event attracts over 16,000 visitors to Downtown Waco. Regarded as one of the of the top cultural events of the Fall, Waco Cultural Arts Fest brings together exceptional artists, performances and immersive experiences in a free festival for all ages on the banks of the Brazos at Indian Spring Park and the Waco Convention Center.

In addition to the bounty of arts activities and demonstrations, music and dance performances, writers workshops, science exhibitions, and film screenings, festival goers may peruse and purchase original paintings, drawings, fiber arts, jewelry, ceramics, photography, and much more at the juried artists market.

Beyond the annual festival, Cultural Arts of Waco continues to foster opportunities for creative and cultural expression through our community programs in schools: ACE after School at La Vega Elementary school; Art at the Arc Summer Camp program (partnering with Arc of McLennan County) for children with autism and cerebral palsy continues to grow as children of every ability thrive in the creative space we provide. Over 500 works of art were exhibited by Art at the Arc campers at our August exhibition.

The Waco Cultural Arts Fest budget is supported by individual and business donations, grant awards, fundraisers, as well as our membership. Because of each contribution, Cultural Arts of Waco is able to continue offering this beautiful, rich, array of talent, visual splendor, and intellectual inspiration FREE to our community.

WE ARE TRULY GRATEFUL TO OUR SUPPORTERS AND FOR THEIR TRUST IN US.

Waco Cultural Arts Fest, dba Cultural Arts of Waco, is a non-profit that strives to celebrate and promote the community’s diverse artistic and cultural life; develop and enrich its cultural capacity; and champion the economic, social, and education benefits of the arts in the Greater Waco area and beyond. More information can be found on our website at www.wacoartsfest.org

Enjoy your arts weekend!

In addition to promoting the three-day Waco Cultural Arts Fest, Cultural Arts Waco continues to invest in cultural arts programs in the local community, including:

Branding the Brazos SculptureA series of sculptures that pay homage to Waco’s role along the historic cattle-drive trail and enable visitors to visualize Texas folklore, culture and history

Doris Miller MemorialA major work of art to honor World War II hero and Waco native, Doris Miller, and revitalize a riverfront community park and stimulate development

Art at the ArcA summer day camp for Arc of McLennan County, an organization for intellectually disabled individuals especially autism and cerebral palsy

Community Mural ProjectAn East Waco Mural by artist David Loewenstein of Lawrence, Kansas,a prize-winning muralist, writer and print maker. A joint project with Mid-America Arts Alliance and Texas Commison on the Arts.

Waco National Outdoor Sculpture InvitationalBrings unique sculptures by renowned and emerging artists into Waco’s downtown to promote art in public places. In fall of 2010 Patrick Dougherty, stickwork sculptor, completed a public art work ‘River Vessels” involving 300 volunteers. Keep your eye out for a revival of this exciting program in 2016.

One of the most important elements in the success of Waco Cultural Arts Fest is the support of the community and the City of Waco. Waco Cultural Arts Fest’s sponsors and management teams of award-winning volunteers work year round to ensure the festival runs smoothly. Large companies, area businesses, local residents, schools, and colleges give their time and effort to ensure the festival is an enjoyable and fun experience!
