Dear Parents / Carers, Harmony Day—March 21 The message of Harmony Day is Everyone Belongs. In 2013 the theme is: Many Stories – One Australia. We will be celebraƟng Harmony Day with an Indonesian Dance Performance on Thursday and a series of varied acƟviƟes on Friday. Remember to wear an item of orange clothing on Friday—the symbolic colour for Harmony Day. Parent / Teacher Interviews This week you will receive an invitaƟon to aƩend a Parent Teacher Interview. Take some Ɵme before the interview to prepare your thoughts: a few of the following Ɵps may help you. Determine what informaƟon you need before the interview to support your child. Ask your child before the interview what they enjoy about school. Are there any areas where they need extra help or have concerns? Be prepared to share this informaƟon with your child’s teacher during the interview. Write a list of specic quesƟons you wish to ask your child’s teacher. During the interview, take notes so that you can share the comments later with your child. If you want to know about a specic area of your child’s progress (for example how they are progressing in English) let your child’s teacher know this from the outset so you can focus the interview on this topic. Ask your child’s teacher what the expectaƟons are with regard to homework and assignments. How much Ɵme should they be spending on their homework? Are there any areas you can help your child at home? Find out how your child is parƟcipaƟng in classroom acƟviƟes and whether there are any general issues with behaviour or discipline that need discussing. If your child is nding the work too easy, ask your child’s teacher whether they can provide extension acƟviƟes. If the conversaƟon moves away from the topic to an area that is not about your child, be prepared to refocus it. End the interview on a posiƟve note and keep in regular contact with the teacher to follow up on a mutually agreed plan. School Photos—March 26 All class photos, individual photos, captains, house captains, guitar group, choir, SRC, Year 6 will be taken next Tuesday March 26. All photo orders need to be returned to school before next Tuesday. Please return your photo envelopes to the class teacher for storage at school . Children need to be in their correct school uniform—tunics for girls, school polo shirt and black shorts for boys. Remember black socks for boys, white socks for girls—no coloured stockings please girls and hair ribbons need to be black or maroon! Parent / Teacher Interviews

This week you will receive an invita on to a end a Parent Teacher Interview. Take some

me before the interview to prepare your thoughts: a few of the following ps may help

you.

Determine what informa on you need before the interview to support your child.

Ask your child before the interview what they enjoy about school. Are there any

in it to win it! There are at least 10 baskets to be

All prizes will be drawn on Tuesday 26th and

lucky winners will be no fied.

School Payments

All payments for excursions, spor ng events are to be taken by students to their classroom teacher. The teacher will then mark payments off the class roll. Receipts will only be issued for items over $10. Please keep canteen and fundraising money separate to all other payments as they are processed separately.

EFTPOS payments can be made in person at the office for all payments over $10 un l midday or you can send your details in with your child. Once EFTPOS payments are processed your credit card details are shredded.

No cash payments will be accepted at the office window they need to go the class teacher. Please ensure that all payments are made by the due date which is printed on the permission notes.

Warnervale Wordabout Our Warnervale Wordabout is sent home every Wednesday to those families that have requested a paper copy. Our newsle er contains important details of ac vi es and events that will affect your children. Please make a point of reading the Wordabout thoroughly each week and no ng any dates relevant to your family. If you would like to receive a copy just send a note to the office reques ng a copy. Our newsle er is posted on our website on Wednesday a ernoons.

Sydney North Swimming Congratula ons to Penina T, Logan T, Brock R, Georgia R, Olivia G, Kodi M and Georgia L who swam at Homebush on Monday. They all swam extremely well. Special men on to Georgia R who came 4th in the 12yrs 50metre breaststroke final. An amazing effort!

Rugby League Congratula ons to Kobe B and Kadyn B who were successful in making the Wallarah zone rugby league team. Good luck at the next round of trials boys.

Harmony Day 2013 Harmony Day is a day for everyone to celebrate the many different cultures that make Australia great. It is also an opportunity to demonstrate that racism and discrimina on are NOT okay. Warnervale Public School in partnership with Warnervale Family and Community Centre will be celebra ng Harmony Day on Friday 22nd March 2013. With support from Wyong Shire Council we are able to provide a range of ac vi es to make Harmony Day fun for all.

Na onal Ride2School Day is just around the

corner—This FRIDAY 22nd March! A few

reminders for the day include:

ALL students on wheels are required to wear helmets.

NO Scooters or Skateboards please.

ALL Students under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an ADULT.
