Assemblies Assemblies are a wonderful time for all of us to celebrate the achievements of our students and watch them perform class items. It is also a time for the students to start working on their public speaking skills and to be recognised for special things they do in and around the school. We also use assembly time to teach the students about how to be a good audience member and how we listen to others. We love our assemblies and we love having our families join us for those assemblies. Can we please just ask that if you are attending the assembly with little ones that you try to keep them very settled but if they do become unsettled, and we understand that they do because they are little, then please take them for a little walk outside so that the students are not distracted at this time. We thank you in advance for understanding and supporting this. Wellbeing Program At one of my Principal Network meetings I was lucky enough to win a free 5 week school trial of

a wellbeing program run by Dance Fever Multi Sport. They will be coming out each Tuesday from Week 6, 19/11. They will be running a ½ hr program with all classes K-6. We had our first sessions this week and the feedback so far is that the students loved it and the staff were impressed also. We will see how we go over a few weeks and if it is something that we feel is beneficial we will look at the extended version of the program.

Just a short note to let you know that students and staff will finish up on Wednesday 18 Dec 2019. Only our Admin staff will be at school on Thursday 19 Dec & Fri 20 Dec 2019. Our staff have completed four twilight sessions over the year as part of our Professional Learning roster. They have undertaken a variety of activities and have worked very hard all year. Our most recent session was this week where we undertook school evaluation processes in preparation for next year

What is the news in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2……….

This week saw the start of a Wellbeing Program at Warragamba. On Tuesday all students

enjoyed an extremely relaxing session of Yoga. It was amazing and we can’t wait until next

Tuesday!

Next week K – 2 students are heading to Warragamba Dam for a Science excursion. Children

need to wear school uniform with a school hat. Joggers are recommended as the children will

be doing lots of walking! Students will need lunch, recess, crunch and sip and 2 bottles of

water. Please remember to pack the above items in a backpack your child can carry! With the

weather we have been experiencing lately, sunscreen is also a great idea! We are all looking

forward to a great day!!!

Once again K, 1 and 2 students will be heading to the movies as an end of year excursion. On

Monday 9 December, we will watch Artic Justice at United Cinemas at Narellan….if the

weather is kind to us we will enjoy a picnic lunch at Warragamba Dam on the way home. The

cost of this excursion is $20.

Finally, on Friday 6 December K-2 will be holding a Christmas assembly in the school hall at

12:00 noon. Each year group will be performing a Christmas song. Students may wear

Christmas mufti clothing on this day. Parents are invited to watch this assembly, however,

please remember it is really difficult for the children on stage to be heard if our audience is

talking. We do ask that parents keep younger children quiet whilst in the hall and keep

conversations for once the assembly is over. If younger siblings are finding it hard to sit

still, then please take them outside to calm them down before bringing them back into the

hall. I ask this out of respect for our younger students.

We love having visitors watch us, especially our parents,

however everyone likes the chance to be heard.

I thank you in advance for

understanding!

New and Departing Students

If you know of any new students who have not yet enrolled in our school for 2020, please remind them to contact the school office or call in to pick up an enrolment pack as soon as possible.

Stage 2 News

Behaviour

The end of the year is fast approaching. It is an extremely busy time of year for all. I understand that children

may get tired around this time of year, however, we still need to ensure children are safe and respectful. There

have been many incidents in the past few weeks of disrespectful behaviour towards teachers, and students

using inappropriate language in the playground. Can you please have a chat with your

child about these concerns as we would all like to finish the year on a positive note.

Maths Groups

Maths groups will finish on Friday 29 November 2019 as the last few weeks are extremely busy

with other activities occurring in the school.

Stage 2 Rewards day

Students who have not been on a level this term will participate in a scavenger hunt around the

school and enjoy an ice cream spider on Friday 13 December 2019. Students can join with their

friends and create a team. There will be prizes for the best dressed team, best team name and

other awards on the day as well.

Stage 3 News Stage 3 Camp As you are all aware we were successfully able to lock in a new camp with the unfortunate cancellation of the Great Aussie Bush Camp, due to the bush fires. Cataract Scout Camp is located in Appin and is a very similar camp. Thank you for all of your prompt responses to the survey. It made booking that little bit easier. Please remember to return the new permission, dietary and liability form as soon as possible. Camp dates are week 8, Wednesday 4th - 6th of December. Year 6 Farewell If your child is in year 5 and they have not returned their RSVP note about the Year 6 farewell, could you please do so by week 7. We need to let the catering company know numbers. Reward Day Stage 3 reward day is happening on Friday 13th, week 9. This is for all Stage 3 students that have not been on a level all term.

Lizard Log Fun Day Year 6 students will have the opportunity to attend Lizard Log as a relaxing day to end their time at WPS. A note will be coming out in week 7 with more details.

School Security If you see Trespassers in the School out of school hours we would appreciate a call to School Security on 1300 880 021. This is a 24 hour service. Thank you.

Lost Property

There are a lot of items in lost property at the moment. Please come and check lost property before the end of the year as it will be cleared out and donated.

Nits!!! Checking once or twice a week can ensure early detection and then treatment can be applied. You must also remember to check 7 days after you have treated hair as this is when any left-over eggs can hatch and then you may have problems again. I have put a link to some information on the school website. Being vigilant will help to reduce the incidents at our school when they occur.

Message from School Banking

Last day for School Banking will be Monday 9 December 2019.

REQUEST FOR ALL SCHOOL MAINTENANCE LOCAL TRADES PROVIDERS AND SUPPLIERS

The NSW Government has committed the largest investment in planned maintenance at public schools in the history of

NSW. A record $1.3 billion is being spent on an ambitious delivery program, focused on employing local businesses and

contractors across the state.

To assist in addressing regional school maintenance issues and at the same time provide work for local trade’s persons

and suppliers across the Greater Western Sydney region encompassing South Western and Western Sydney, over $100

million is being invested to upgrade and maintain our school infrastructure.

Given this record spend by School Infrastructure NSW, you are invited to an Asset Management Unit industry breakfast

briefing. This will provide information to existing and new contractors on how you can get involved.

To find out more by attending our Industry breakfast register at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/industry-

engagement-information-session-tickets-81879669295 or contact your AMU on 8867 9201.
