EASY TO FOLLOW TIPS With temperatures expecting to be high this Summer, we have put together a list of 5 things you can do to ensure that wildlife can flourish – even in the heat!
1. Birdbaths Making a bird bath for our feathered friends is always great way to help birds and hedgehogs in the hotter months. Turn your garden into a space for nature by putting a washing up tub filled with cool water outside and let birds clean their feathers and then perch in a sunny spot to dry off. Help the birds stay healthy by keeping the birdbaths clean.
2. Take care of your garden or allotment Plants that are watered regularly and gardens with large habitat areas are vital for butterflies and bees in the hot weather.
3. Create a nature passage Creating a link between your garden and your neighbours enables hedgehogs and toads to move freely between gardens which raises the quality of wildlife for all to enjoy.
4. Leaving out much needed food Finding food is also a challenge for hedgehogs and other wildlife in the hot weather. Worms usually make their way deep down into soil, making it difficult for those who usually them such as, hedgehogs, robins and frogs. You could put out a juicy snack for hedgehogs such as tinned dog food (non-fish based).
5. Add shade to your garden Many animals will seek out shade during the hot periods of the summer and a good way to help them is by creating a shaded area in your garden so they can cool off. Create a pile of fallen tree branches in a shaded area of your garden to help smaller animals during the heat.
You can enjoy a wide variety of wildlife right in your garden by providing a welcoming environment for it. These simple tips could provide a Summer full of adventures and projects to keep both kids and adults busy and entertained.

Unlocking Warwick Tour of The Court House Date: 3rd & 24th of August, 7th & 21st of August / Time: 11am / Venue: Jury Street CV34 4BJ Free Court House Tours conducted by Unlocking Warwick volunteers. The tours include the Town Council Chamber, the Ballroom, and the immediate surrounds of the grade 1 listed building, telling of its history as a court house and town hall and its role in the history of the development of Warwick. The tours start in the Pageant Garden behind the Court House at 11.00 and take about 45 minutes. Numbers are strictly limited for practical and safety reasons, so it is a case of first come, first served!. Artists working from summerhouses, gazebos and lawned areas around Hill Close Gardens. Not just a formal exhibition of arts and crafts. Adults and children can watch the various artists at work (see a wide range of arts and crafts demonstrated) around the gardens, chat to them about their work, or take part in free workshops. An informal and inclusive atmosphere. Live musical performances, poetry readings and promenading players reciting sonnets and speeches from Shakespeare....yes, he was local as well.
