There is some correlation of winds and waves since the sea portion of the wave spectrum is closely correlated with the local winds. A large portion of the wave environment in the Campos Basin however is due to swell, which has propagated into

the region from the southwest. The swell portion of the wave spectrum is not correlated with the local wind conditions. Currents should be considered independent of winds and waves. The currents in the Campos Basin are due almost entirely to the Brazil Current and therefore are uncorrelated with the local wind and wave environment.

2.0 OPERATIONAL CRITERIA 2.1 WIND CONDITIONS

2.1.1 PERCENT FREQUENCY OF OCCURRENCE (MONTHLY) OF WIND SPEED vs. WIND

DIRECTION The following tables provide statistics of the occurrence of wind speed vs. wind direction on a monthly basis. The percent frequency of occurrence of any wind class interval, for
