MORNING Quantum Global
Good Morning & Welcome to Friday's trading action at Dalal Street, dated 26th
April 2019
Lets first analyze the Q4 results which have trickle in yesterday:
STOCKS TO WATCH:
1.MCX reported a 78.47% jump in consolidated net profit at Rs. 61 crore for
the 4th quarter of 2018-2019 as against 34 cr in previous year. We have a
positive bias on MCX with aggressive 1-year targets at 921 (12-15% upside
likely). Buying on dips should be the preferred strategy.
2.Biocon Q4 profit up 64% at Rs 214 crore. Biocon's board has also approved
issue of bonus shares in the proportion of 1:1. We expect the stock to trade
with positive bias with 6 months targets at 690-710 zone. (12-15% upside
likely).
3.Tata Steel’s profit in the 4th quarter was above street's estimates as
Revenue rose 25.9% to Rs 42,424 crore. Technically, the stock appears
attractive with long term perspective with downside well supported at 487-
491 zone. Buying on dips should be the preferred strategy with aggressive
1- year targets at 625-631 zone (15-18% upside likely).
4.Axis Bank's result were in line with our expectations. The positive takeaway
is that AXIS BANK reported Net profit of Rs 1,505 crore in the Dec-March
2019 quarter compared to a loss of Rs 2,188 crore in same previous quarter.
Domestic loan growth stood at 18% year-on-year. Gross NPA ratio stood at
5.26% compared with 5.75%. Technically speaking, the stock should find
strong bids at around 689-701 zone.
5.Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki disappointed on all fronts. Net profit fell 4.6%
year-on-year to Rs 1,795 crore. Maruti also forecasted lower sales growth
for 2019-20 than the previous financial year. Well, this indicates that India’s
auto slowdown is far from over. It expects volume to grow between 4% and
8% in 2019-20. We expect the stock to continue its underperformance.
6. In other corporate news, ITC is under GST Scanner after the Goods and
Service Tax investigation body has found that ITC allegedly made undue
profits by not passing on the benefit of GST rate cut to consumers.
7. Cholamandalam Investment to consider stock split on 27th April board
meeting.
8.Amongst ongoing new IPO, Artemis Electricals is on. The issue will end on
30th April. Today, White Organic Retail's IPO will open for the public. We
have a subscribe rating for both the new issues.
9.Amongst corporate earnings this Friday: HERO MOTO CORP, PIRAMAL
ENTERPRISE and YES BANK will post their Q4.
• The two Underdog Stocks We're Watching: SUZON & MCX. Our
chart of the day suggests establishing long positions in stocks like MCX,
SUZLON and UBL on any early weakness with 2-3 Months perspective.

Technical Strategy• BULLISH STOCKS: SUZLON, HAVELLS, SRF, KOTAK BANK, ULTRATECH,
BAJAJ FIANANCE, UPL, AIA ENGINEERING, NAUKRI (INFO EDGE), PFC.
• BEARISH STOCKS: APOLLO TYRES, RAYMONDS, VEDANTA.
• Amongst momentum Mid-cap stocks on buy side, we suspect, POLYPLEX
could be a dark horse with inter-month perspective! The technicals &
fundamentals are shifting in favor of bulls camp. CMP 517. Targets at 581.
• SHOW ME THE MONEY: Option Trade: SELL NIFTY 2nd May PE Strike
Price 11450 at CMP 9.60. Maximum Profit: Rs. 720/-. Loss: Unlimited. Stop:
Exit Put option if Nifty spot moves below 11519. (Nifty CMP 11642).
• Stocks banned in F&O segment for today: NIL.
Outlook for Friday: Hurdles for Nifty at 11857.
Downside risk limited at 11519.
Global cues are subdued this Friday morning as SGX Nifty is seen flirting with
dotted lines. Casting a shadow over our stock markets are lethal cocktail of
news, like:
1.Rising crude-oil prices ($66 a Barrel)
2.Weakening USD/INR (70.25).
3.The US Dollar index is at 2 Years High. Likely to move above 100 mark.
4.Maruti's Q4 results below street's expectations.
5.Wall Street mostly lower. Sluggish Shanghai & Hang Seng index.
6.Growth worries in Germany and investment bank turmoil.
But our call of the day continues to be with the bulls camp and suggests we are
probably flying above Nifty 12,000 in the next couple of weeks!
Agreed that aggressive traders from the bulls camp could take a breather after
the benchmarks Nifty & Sensex notched spectacular rebound in Wednesday's
trade, but we suspect any downside likely to be limited as the positive catalysts
working in favor of bulls are:
1.Hopes of normal monsoon: The latest South Asian Climate Outlook
Forum on Tuesday predicted a normal monsoon in most parts of India
barring the west coast peninsular, including parts of the state and northern
parts of central India.
2.Earnings above street's expectations: Most of the Q4 corporate
earnings which have trickled in are above street's expectations.
This fuels hopes that the much-awaited earnings recovery will follow this
quarter. That also indicates that we are perhaps going to escape an
earnings recession. That will be key for the market to rally from here.
3.FIIs in buying mode: As per Thursday's provisional data, FIIs bought
shares worth Rs 3,785.73 crore. In this April month FIIs have bought to the
tune of 12706 crores.
Info Edge India Limited is India’s premier online
classifieds company in recruitment, matrimony,
real estate, education and related services. The
company, with a view to tap into the growing and
vibrant Indian internet market, undertakes
investments in early stage companies / start-up
ventures. Its business portfolio comprises:
• Recruitment – www.naukri.com – market
leader in the Indian e-recruitment space.
• Matrimony – www.jeevansathi.com.
• Real Estate – www.99acres.com.
• Education – www.shiksha.com.
Technically, brace yourselves for a major
breakout play from a complex ‘higher
consolidation pattern’ on the daily/monthly
charts. An impulse uptrend is seen forming on
the daily time scale, with positive SAR series,
major confirmation above its all-time high at
2050 mark.
Add to that a bullish divergence and a rising
stochastic signal (on weekly charts) with recent
increase in volumes signaling a larger rebound.
The 200 days Exponential Moving Average (EMA)
of the stock on the daily chart is currently at 1606
zone. The level of Rs 1606-1651 zone will act as a
strong support zone and any sharp corrective
declines to these levels should be used as an
opportunity to initiate aggressive long positions.
A potential entrance exists the stock at CMP, and
on dips between 1800-1855 zone, targeting
2050 and then aggressive targets at 2251 zone
with stop at 1601. Holding Period: 2-3 Months.

4.Wall Street at record highs.
5.The good news for bulls’ camp continues to be the renewed optimism on backdrop of reports that growth is stabilizing in
China, amidst another round of macroeconomic stimulus, easing fears of a hard landing. And then hopes continue for the
United States and China may soon reach a deal to prevent the ongoing trade war from escalating further.
6.WTI Crude oil prices are fractionally lower at $66.26 per barrel. The slight pullback in WTI prices comes after the
American Petroleum Institute late Tuesday reported a gain of almost 7 million barrels in inventories last week, more than five
times the expected increase.
7. Reports that the U.S. trade representatives will lead a U.S. delegation to China next week to resume trade
negotiations.
The negotiations will begin April 30 in Beijing.
The street is anticipating that the ongoing trade talks are in final stages, and if the said deal is reached, then a signing ceremony
could be held in late May or early June, ending the yearlong tariff war between the world's two largest economies.
Long story short: Buying on dips should continue to be the preferred strategy.
FII/DII & OPTIONS DATA:
• As per Thursday’s Provisional Data available on the NSE, FIIs bought shares worth Rs 3,785.73 crore while DIIs sold Rs
4,069.98 crore worth of shares in the Indian equity market.
• As per option data, key resistance level for the May series for Nifty are at 11,800 strike price as maximum call open interest of

11,600 as Maximum Put open interest of 22.16 lakh contracts were seen at the 11,600 strike price.
GLOBAL CUES:
• Wall Street was seen struggling in yesterday's trade as most the stocks closed mostly lower on reports of disappointing
earnings from 3M Co.
Investors continued to monitor trade talks between the U.S. and China which are reportedly in the final stretch. Meanwhile,
Yields on 10-year bonds have gained considerably since their inversion 25-days back. The yield on the 10-year Treasury
jumped to more than 2.5% in an indication of investor optimism about stocks.
• EU leaders’ move to grant the U.K. a delay to Brexit until Oct 31, 2019.
POLITICAL CUES:
• Sentiments could turn volatile ahead of National elections which has started to take centre stage. The much awaited event, the
general elections began with first phase on April 11. Well, stocks could cool if poll fever heats up. The seven-phase election is
being across the country from 11 April to 19 May and results will be announced on 23 May.
• The street is quite optimistic that Narendra Modi-led government will come back to power after the general elections 2019.
Optimists appear to be betting that Modi’s re-election will boost investment activity in sectors such as construction and
infrastructure.
COMMODITY CUES:
• GOLD ($1278): Support now seen 1271-1275 zone. Major intermonth hurdles now seen at 1368. Interweek Strategy: Buy
above 1293, targeting 1311 and then at 1359-1368 zone with stop below 1271.

• MCX COPPER (445): Interweek strategy: Establish long positions at CMP, targeting 459-463 zone and then aggressive targets
at 471-477 zone with stop at 431.
CURRENCIES & BONDS:
• In Thursday's trade, the Indian Rupee ended a volatile session lower, depreciating by 0.39 paise against the dollar to close at
70.26.
• Technically, USD/INR faces major hurdles at 70.45. Major strength seen only above 70.45. Interweek Strategy: Aggressive
traders can look to buy between 69.75-69.85 zone, targeting 70.45 and then 71.50. Stop 69.01.
WHAT TECHNICALS TELLS US ON NIFTY:
• In yesterday's trade, the benchmarks witnessed volatility amidst April series expiry. The benchmark indices ended sharply
lower and the negative takeaway was that they reversed morning gains.
• The Sensex settled below the psychological 39,000 level. The Nifty settled below the 11,700 mark.
• Nifty continues to trade way above its 21 DMA & 200 DMA placed at 11603 & 10989 mark respectively.
• The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market was weak. The BSE Mid-Cap index inched lower 0.58%. The
BSE Small-Cap index slipped 0.05%.
• Technically speaking, medium term supports on Nifty are placed at 11311 zone. Only on any move below 11,311 will the
technical conditions deteriorate with aggressive targets at 10,901 mark.
• Intraday support seen at 11571 and then at 11519 mark.
• Intraday hurdles are at 11789 and then major hurdles seen at 11857 zone.
• The medium term price action for Nifty is suggesting that we are likely to see a 11451-11,901 range in near
term with neutral bias.
Bulls Vs. Bears: Time to Pick a Side!!
Nifty likely to outperform Bank Nifty:
• Preferred trade on Nifty (11642): Buy
between 11589-11601 zone. Targets
11721/11857. Stop 11519.
• Preferred trade on Bank Nifty (29861):
