Painting to Protect
Historic and natural resource proponents use paint to protect theirprojects
Chamberlin House, Concord
A new coat of paint wraps up a project by the Woman's Club of Concord on its historicheadquarters building, the 1886 Chamberlin House. The project, supported by a $60,740LCHIP grant, also included repointing its tall brick chimneys, repairing dormer slates andattic windows, and repairing deteriorated exterior wood trim and clapboards. Now, thehouse and its delightful architectural features enliven Pleasant Street in downtownConcord, and the building has a new lease on life. Click here to read more about theClub and the house.

Tuftonboro's Great Meadow
The Tuftonboro Conservation Commission, with help from the Lakes Region ConservationTrust's (LRCT) Lakes Region ConservationCorps, spent a steamy summer day painting(blazing) boundary lines in and aroundTuftonboro's Great Meadow that will soon beconserved with assistance from LCHIP. Permanently identifying conservationboundaries helps landowners, easementholders, neighbors and others know where theconserved land is and goes a long way towardshelping avoid unintended encroachments orother prohibited activities.
The boundary-blazing team shown in the photo includes (L to R) Tuftonboro ConservationCommission Chair Steve Wingate and LRCT's Lakes Region Conservation Corps membersJordin Whyland, Alyssa Milo, Micaelie O'Hare and Nick Langlois.
