Enrolling on your courseWe are keen to encourage as many people as possible to enrol online for courses.

There are several reasons why this benefits both WEA and yourself:

• Enrolling online guarantees a place on your chosen course and reduces administrative

work at the first session

• Because we need a minimum of 15 enrolments to run most courses, online enrolment helps us to make sure

we reach minimum numbers which helps to ensure as many classes as possible are able to run

• Once you have enrolled online you do not need to give the same information each time you want to

join a course – all of your information will already be there!

• Our online enrolment system is secure and complies with data protection

You can find your course on our website:enrolonline.wea.org.ukor use the QR code

Our English and maths courses are designed to enable people to develop their ‘functional’ English and maths skills. This means that, as well as developing and improving their confidence by learning new skills and techniques, people will be able to use their skills to cope with everyday tasks such as letters to/from schools, working out prices in shops to get the best deals, understanding bank statements and payment methods etc.

WEA ESOL courses aim to improve and develop the language skills of students who do not have English as their first language so that they can play a full and active role in life and work.

Our English, maths and ESOL courses include accredited and non-accredited courses depending on whether students want to gain a qualification, or simply want to practise and develop their skills and confidence. We also offer ESOL and Citizenship courses that include a speaking and listening qualification at E3 level and preparation for the Life in the UK test.

Initial AssessmentPrior to joining an EME or an accredited learning programme, students are invited to attend an initial assessment session to ensure they are enrolled on the right course.

How much do EME courses cost?English and Maths courses are free to all students who meet SFA (Skills Funding Agency) eligibility (i.e. over 19 years and resident in EU or UK in last 3 years). This does not apply to students from Scotland or Wales.

ESOL courses cost £1.65 per hour but may be free to students in receipt of means tested benefits.
