2. WEATHER INSTRUMENTS 3. The weather instruments are always be used: Anemometer Barometer Windsock Weather balloon Hygrometer Wind vane Rain gauge Thermometer 4. ANEMOMETER A device used for measuring wind speed. 5. BAROMETER A scientific instrument used to measure atmospheric or air pressure. 6. RAIN GAUGE A rain gauge is an instrument used by meteorologists and hydrologists t o measure precipitation (e.g. rain) in a certain amount of time. 7. THERMOMETER A device that measures temperature or temperature gradient using a variety of different principles. 8. WIND VANE An instrument for showing the direction of the wind . 9. WINDSOCK Designed to indicate wind direction and relative wind speed. Windsocks typically are used at airports and at chemical plants where there is risk of gaseous leakage. They are sometimes located alongside highways at windy locations. 10. HYGROMETER An instrument used for measuring the moisture content in the environment. Humidity measurement instruments usually rely on measurements of some other quantity such as temperature, pressure, mass or a mechanical or electrical change in a substance as moisture is absorbed. 11. WEATHER BALLOON A balloon (specifically a type of high altitude balloon) which carries instruments aloft to send back information on atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity and wind speed by means of a small, expendable measuring device called aradiosonde. 12.
