Is an online thesaurus and dictionary. The site also provides translation, crosswords and word games.

Nota

Nota allows users to create, share and collaborate on presentations and virtually any other form of online material. Users can instantly integrate text, video, maps, clip art, photos from web album or on the local computer, or license-free images from Flickr, and material from an ever-expanding array of sources. Users can then instantly embed their work in Facebook or blogs, and can share and collaborate with friends.

Testmoz is a test generator that sports 4 question types, automatic grading, a really simple interface and detailed reports. Testmoz is free, and does not require you (or your students) to register.

Edmodo

Is a private social platform built for education. It provides a way for students and teachers to collaborate with each other. Edmodo easily allows you to upload files or embed work. Parents can also be a member of Edmodo to stay in touch with what is happening in the classroom.

Photo Peach

Helps you tell better stories online using photos. With PhotoPeach you can create a rich slideshow in seconds. Background music, captions, and comments can be added so you can elaborate on your story further. You can use existing slideshows or create your own.

Diigo

Diigo's features allow teachers to highlight critical features within text and images and write comments directly on the web pages, to collect and organize series of web pages and web sites into coherent and thematic sets, and to facilitate online conversations within the context of the materials themselves. Diigo also allows teachers to collaborate and share resources among themselves.

Tiny

By entering in a URL, tiny will create a tiny URL that will not break in email postings and never expires. Great if you have a long URL that you would like to make smaller.

Trip Advisor

Creates a slide show of your travels by using your photos, incorporates maps and music to make a really visual and interesting presentation.

Scibble Maps

Scribble maps allows you to edit and customise your own Google maps. This means that you can scribble, draw, and annotate over Google maps. The basic account lets you draw straight lines, curvy lines and several shapes: circles, rectangles and polygons. In all cases, you choose the colour and line thickness of your lines. You can also add text or images over the map, as well as markers with titles and descriptions, similar to those in the standard Google Maps. All of the zoom options

aMap

aMap is short for ‘argument map’. The idea’s very simple – to promote the art of arguing by mapping out complex debates in a simple visual format. aMap is about helping people get to grips with complex (or otherwise) issues and getting people thinking – so are ideal

for use in the classroom for lessons like Critical Thinking.

Lino it is a web-based sticky note service. It is where you can post stickers, add photos and movies. You can also upload links to documents. It is collaborative and can be embedded into blogs, moodles and wikis.

Jeopardy Labs is a free service you can use to create your own online Jeopardy game. The games you make can be played online from anywhere in the world. If you are not interested in building your own template, jeopardy has templates that have been created by others which you can use.

OTHER WORLDS

A site set up primarily for a literacy unit for primary school students BUT it has a great section in it which lists various Web tools and how they are integrated into this unit. Along with this is information on different Web 2 tools and instructions for their use, under Tools and Tips on the Toolbar.

PRESENT ME

Is a web service that lets you create effective presentations through your PowerPoint files. What makes this site unique, is it lets you add a narrative to the presentation. Once you upload your PowerPoint, you can record a narrative through your webcam and microphone as if you were presenting the slideshow. The final presentation then appears with your webcam recording on the right and slides on the left. A filmstrip view of the slides is also given on the bottom of the presentation.
