Web Article Assignment- “How to Understand the Basics of NASCAR”

Describe your purpose:

The purpose of this article is to gather more fans for the sport so everyone can enjoy it as much as we do. NASCAR has a lot of complicated rules and formats, so our “How to” articles can help solve these problems.

Describe your Audience:

e-HOW- How To Understand the Flags of NASCAR!“If you don’t know….You Lose”

1. The Green Flag

The Green Flag indicates that the Race is about to begin. This happens when the Race is about to start or after a Caution. After the drivers pass the timing lines, the Drivers can put the pedal to the metal and proceed to continue the race.

2. The Yellow Flag

The Yellow Flag indicates that there has been an accident or something has been spotted on the Racing surface that could harm the driver or the other personal on the track. The drivers are to slow down to a Caution Speed while the track officials cleans the track or accident. The drivers are allowed to pit during this timeframe.

3. The Black Flag

The Black flag indicates that a driver has broken one of the NASCAR rules and has to come to the pits for a “run through” penalty. The Driver has one lap to serve this penalty or they will not be counted for completed laps.

4. The Red Flag

The Red Flag indicates to all drivers that the race must be halted. Drivers are to stop wherever they are on the track until the caution flag comes out. Drivers are to not exit there vehicles until NASCAR says to do so. No work can be done to the cars until the caution flag comes out again.

5. The Checkered Flag

The Checkered Flag indicates that the driver whom is in 1st place is about to win the race. This also indicates to all the drivers that race has now concluded and to proceed back to the garage area.
