FINAL JANET'S JAUNTS VISIT FOR 2018

The Janet?s Jaunts year concluded with a resoundingly, successful visit to a cheese and ice cream factory. There were 21 in the group, being a rather tight fit in the Board room.

On the table you can see samples of the different types of cheese products they produce. Amazingly we got to try all these different varieties and we were able to see the whole operation from a viewing corridor. The company does make ice

cream and again we were able to see the packaging operation and sample the icecream.

TRIP DOWN THE WILD WEST COAST In November 2018 a van load of Nelson members spent the weekend in the West Coast. On Saturday, members drove south, from Nelson to Hokitika. First stop was the National Kiwi Centre in which we timed it perfectly and arrived to see the Eels, Kiwi and Tuatara get fed.

After lunch the group drove to see the magnificent Otira Viaduct alongside the friendly locals (a Kea) followed by a stop at Otira Hotel which is stuffed inside and out with interesting objects.

In the evening we met the local Westland members for a meal at the Union Hotel in Greymouth. This was a great chance for everyone to catch up. Following the dinner IPGM Bro John Simpson presented a member with their 50 year certificate and updated all members on MU matters.

2019 also means we have to say goodbye to some of our hardworking and well-respected Fraternal staff who, for a number of reasons, have made the decision not to continue in their employment as a result of changes. To those leaving I say a heartfelt thank you.

I have visits planned for 2019 and hope to see as many of you as possible at the various venues. Here?s to a great 2019 for us all.

From: Fraternal Council & Operating Review Committee

Subject: Operating Review ? review of progress to date

On Tuesday, 22 January 2019, the Fraternal Council of GM Sis Sue Meikle, DGM/Director Bro Graham Allanson, FC Bro Neil Harvey and FC Sis Wendy Pilcher joined with the Operating Review Committee of Director Bro Blair Robinson and CEO Bro Sanjiv Jetly, and the newly appointed Fraternal Manager Sis Pip McLean, in Palmerston North. Apologies were received from Director David Haak.

The purpose of the meeting was to review progress in relation to the new strategy of the organisation to ensure growth and make for a joint approach going forward.

Attendees also took the opportunity to warmly welcome Sis Pip McLean to her first appearance as a member of the Fraternal Council in her new role as Fraternal Manager. The meeting allowed Sis Pip to become familiar with the way both teams work together and going forward start to gain an insight of the many facets of her position.

All in attendance agreed with the strategy going forward. Attendees also reviewed the process, to ensure all bottlenecks are resolved quickly and all unexpected contingencies are mitigated as promptly as possible by the team. Discussions were useful for it helped to iron out concerns and having a face to face meeting allowed the issues to be understood and clarified for the team.

The result was that from a members? perspective it will continue to be business as usual except for the areas that do not currently have a FA and procedures are being put in place to ensure continuity. All present agreed that current members come first and regardless of the changes everyone?s priority is to ensure that the fraternal side of the organisation continues to grow and provide the members with the same, and better, service they now receive.

Another result was that many plans going forward were set out and while some can be implemented immediately it was agreed that others will be work in progress due to the fact not all positions are filled at this point in time and it is envisaged that the final vacancies will be filled in the near future. Recruitment plans are being developed and implemented for vacancies at Woodville Lodge, Manawatu Lodge and Banks Peninsula Lodge.

Going forward, please direct any questions to CEO Bro Sanjiv Jetly directly so everyone gets the correct answer.
