INAUGURAL FUNCTION OF

“YOUTH FOR SEVA, CHENNAI CHAPTER”

At the Conference Hall of Jaigopal Garodia Vivekananda Vidyalaya

“Providing education that would help a person to live with the Society, apart from the regular literary education, as well as imparting knowledge on Social Consciousness to the Youth are the main needs of the hour for our younger generation to get into a practical and purposeful social life” – asserted Sri S.R. Ramaswami, President & Partner of Polaris Software Lab, while delivering his Presidential address at the Inauguration of the organization “YOUTH FOR SEVA, CHENNAI CHAPTER”.

Quoting the following strongest words of Swami Vivekananda ... “Those who live for others alone live and others are more dead than alive” … Smt. Ramya K. Prasad, HOD, Mass Communication, Madras Christian College, called upon the youth to utilize their valuable time in serving the needy instead of wasting their time in other non-productive engagements.

It was the auspicious occasion of the inauguration of the organization “YOUH FOR SEVA, CHENNAI CHAPTER” on Sunday the 20th March 2011. The program was conducted at the Conference Hall of Jaigopal Garodia Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar where Sri S.R. Ramaswamy, Smt Ramya K. Prasad and Sri Venkatesha Murthy addressed the gathering.

With Selvi Ishwarya rendering the Invocation Song and Smt Ramya K Prasad lighting the Kutthuvilakku, the inaugural function got off at sharp 10.30 a.m.

Sri T.S. Rajanganesh, Asst. Manager, Cognizant Technology Solutions and the Co-ordinator of “YOUTH FOR SEVA – Chennai Chapter”, welcomed the Honourable Guests of the day and the audience present.

Delivering the Presidential Address Sri S.R. Ramaswami felt happy to get involved in such of these activities and asked the youth to come forward to take part in activities connected with much needed social change and assured all cooperation from his end to carry on these activities.

Smt Ramya K. Prasad spoke on the need of youngsters taking part in nation building activities and said since a major portion of today’s Indian population consists of youths, it is imperative that they should shoulder the responsibilities of serving the mass and bringing the needed change.

Smt. Priya Dharshini rendered a solo song which narrated th purpose of human life, which is ‘only to serve others’.

Sri Venkatesha Murthy. The Founder and the All India Coordinator of YOUTH FOR SEVA, while delivering his special address, informed that age is not the criteria at all in deciding who is old and who is young. The parameter to decide the difference between the young and the old is that those who give others are the younger ones and those who get from others are the older ones. Classifying the people into three groups - viz. Children, youth and elders – he said the children need help from their parents and others as also the elders need the help from their younger ones. They always get something as help from others and hence they are the people who cannot be classified as younger ones. It is those, who in spite of any hardship to them, always come out to give something to others are to be classified as the Younger ones. He listed out many activities which the younger ones can take up and carry on. He cautioned that by working in any field for just about a month or so one cannot expect any impact and, instead, one should concentrate and work in any field at least for a period of six months to expect any impact on the society and/or the persons whom they serve. “Patience” should be the watchword while entering into the field of serving the society. He suggested that some of us can come out and be full time social workers, while others can plan giving as much time as possible for this work.

Sri Rajesh Vivekanandan, General Secretary, SEVA BHARATHI TAMILNADU, spoke on the various activities of SEVA BHARATI TAMILNADU and Sri L.Natarajan, Trustee of Jaigopal Garodia Janakalyan Blood Bank explained their activities in the field of Blood Donation.
