This WeekThis week we began our Space

reading unit. Our reading focus this week was developing questions before, during, and after reading an informational text. We also practiced two new reading strategies, which are using text features or background knowledge to help us figure out an unknown word. In writing I have been modeling the informational writing process. We have also practiced identifying proper nouns. In math we practiced solving subtraction word problems.

Next WeekIn reading our focus will be defining

a word or phrase from the text. In math I will be introducing doubles equations, for example 2+2=4, 3+3=6, 4+4=8 etc. These doubles equations will be on our math fluency quizzes the following week. Also, please remember that Wednesday is Team Day and on Friday your child’s report card will go home.

F.Y.I Halloween is Monday, October 31st.

Our Halloween parade will be at 1:45. Your child is welcomed to wear his/her costume to school on this day. If you would like to share a treat with the class, there are 24 students. Remember it has to be a non-edible treat.
