I have decided to deconstruct my dress design into a completely different item. I decided to create a garment, sort of corset for females. However I have decided to cut out shapes and light it from the bottom to represent positive and negative space. I think it is very effective because the light does not fall into all the gaps of the garment therefore I created positive and negative space. I have used a dark background in order to really keep my deconstruction in focused on the picture.

In order to do this I was inspired by and artist as well as the work we have done in visual language sessions. Olafur Ellisaon used light source as a way of presenting his work. Similarly to him, I have used lighting to create an effect within my wok by placing a source of light underneath my work so that it reaches only a limited amount of space in the three dimensional figure, leaving some areas as negative (unlit) space. I have developed this idea through the Visual language sessions where we have created a relief and played around with the light to create shadows representing negative space within a photograph.

I think that my work could have many different interpretations, one of which could be an idea of displaying light through an object that is very indirect. This could suggest some kind of loneliness; it makes me think of places that are dangerous, where light does not hit. I think that the way I took some of my photographs also embraces this concept because of the work being presented as a close up, making its look at a large sale.
