International Flight Test News
SpaceX’s Starhopper prototype briefly hovers during first free flight – South TexasLast night SpaceX successfully test flew the prototype for its Starship rocket, which CEO Elon Musk says will one day take passengers to Mars. The Starhopper vehicle is more than 60 feet tall and about 30 feet wide. It attempted a flight Wednesday night, but that test was abruptly ended after ignition. Thursday's test was more successful, with Starhopper taking off and hovering for roughly 20 seconds, traveling about 20 meters, or 65 feet. Musk said Starhopper would attempt a 200-meter hop (219 yards) in "a week or two." Starhopper is an early test prototype for Starship, a much larger vehicle designed to land on the moon and Mars. Starship's current design puts it at 400 feet tall, and Musk has said it will be able to ferry 100 people plus 100 metric tons of cargo to Mars. Business Insider
Flight Test Report: Colomban Jet Cri-Cri - UKBob Grimstead from Pilot Magazine provides a test report on the world's smallest twin-jet designed by aeronautical engineer Michel Colomban and built by former
South Africans Sakkie Van Heerden and Davie Botes. They are serial homebuilders and the progenitor of a whole family of very efficient designs.

The SFTE & AIAA North Texas Chapters, SETP Southwest Section, Lockheed Martin Interns, UT Arlington & Texas A&M Rocket Teams, and other volunteers collaborated on the “Flight Test Range” again this year at the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Dallas Love Field. Engineers and test pilots helped kids make paper airplanes, measure time and distance when flown on the flight test range, and analyze and report the data by computing velocity. SETP members provided expert pointers on the fine art of launching paper airplanes. Two F-35 laptop flight simulators were also provided by Lockheed Martin.
