MONTHLY REPORT – AUGUST 2019 The Academic Year (2019-20) began with a weeklong Orientation Programme for the fresher’s from 2 nd to 9 th August 2019 in which eminent scholars and resource persons from various streams addressed and enlightened our students. Orientation Programme for the freshers’ 2019-20 was formally inaugurated on 02.08.19 by Prof (Dr) P. Ishwara Bhat, Vice Chancellor, Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi. The orientation programme was presided over by Hon’ble Justice A.V. Chandrashekar, Former Judge, High Court of Karnataka, Bengaluru. Prof K.S. Suresh, Chief Executive, Dr S. Nataraju, staff, parents and first year students were present. Nearly 180 students, 300 parents attended the Orientation Inaugural Programme. 1

MONTHLY REPORT – AUGUST 2019

The Academic Year (2019-20) began with a weeklong Orientation Programme for the fresher’s from 2nd to 9th August 2019 in which eminent scholars and resource persons from various streams addressed and enlightened our students.Orientation Programme for the freshers’ 2019-20 was formally inaugurated on 02.08.19 by Prof (Dr) P. Prof P. Shivananda Bharathi delivered guest lecture on ‘Business Ethics’ addressing C.M.A.

students at ICWAI, Mysuru on 11.8.19.

Staff meeting was held on 13.8.19.

Independence Day celebration was observed on 15.8.19. Sri Chintamani, Retired Professor

and Renowned Economist was the Chief Guest. The programme was organised by the third

year students and coordinated by Prof M. M. Prabhuswamy, Cultural Coordinator. After the

formal hoisting of our national flag, the chief guest addressed the gathering with valuable

thoughts on the 73rd Independence Day. The programme was followed by various cultural

events and the concluded with distribution of sweets to the students and staff.

World Photography Day was observed on 19.8.19 at Moot Court hall organised by Miss

Aashiga Pravagni – IX Semester B.A., LL.B, Mr Matheen - IX Semester B.B.A., LL.B, Miss

Vaishnavi – V Semester B.B.A., LL.B and Mr Arjun P.V – V Semester B.A., LL.B. The event was

inaugurated by Dr S. Nataraju and other staff, nearly 9 students participated in the

photography competition by exhibiting their best five photographs. Mr Thanuj – I Semester

LL.B won the First place, Miss Amritha – III Semester B.A., LL.B won the Second place and Mr

Sharath – I Semester B.B.A., LL.B won the Third place in the photography contest.

Orientation Programme for final year students on Clinical Papers was conducted on 19.8.19,

addressed by Prof K. S. Suresh, Chief Executive and faculty handling practical papers.

Classes for first year LL. M commenced from 19.8.19.

Prof P. Shivananda Bharathi delivered guest lecture on ‘Provident Fund Laws’ addressing

C.M.A Students at ICWAI, Mysuru on 19.8.19.

Sri Suresh Kumar, Physical Education Director participated in International Workshop on

“Advanced Strength and Conditioning for Sports” organised by Lakshmibai National Institute

of Physical Education, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh held from 20.8.19 to 26.8.19.

Library Committee Meeting was held on 21.8.19.

Nearly 60 students of I Semester LL.B attended the Legal Awareness Programme organised

by the District Legal Services Authority, Mysuru held on 21.8.19 at Kalamandir, Mysuru.

Dr N. Vani Shree chaired two sessions and was invited chief guest for the valedictory of the

Two Day National Seminar on “Strengthening Legal Provisions for the Enforcement of

Contracts: Reassessing the Quality and Efficiency of Dispute Resolution of Commercial

matters in India” organised by NLSIU, Bengaluru in association with Department of Justice,

Ministry of Law & Justice, New Delhi held at NLSIU Bengaluru from 21.8.19 to 22.8.19.

Smt P. Ashwini published a paper titled ‘Regulation of Media in India – With special

reference to News Channels’ in Bangalore University Law Journal, UGC approved referred

journal, Volume I, January 2018.

Smt Sheela Ganesh published a paper titled ‘Noise Pollution Control Laws in India’ in

Environment and Forest Law Times, 1019 (9) FLT, Part 6, June 2019.

Smt P. Ashwini, Moot Club Coordinator convened general meeting to discuss the moot club

activities for the academic year 2019-20 for the moot club members on 20.8.19.

Smt P. Ashwini, Moot Club Coordinator organised a Training Session on ‘Moot Court’ for

freshers on 24.08.19 and the resource person was Sri Rohit Subbayya, Advocate, Mysuru.

Moot club conducted Contention framing competition (on Article 370 of the Indian

Constitution) on 27.08.19 for Juniors and Seniors separately.

Freshers’ Day was held on 27.8.19, organised by Pre-final year students with ‘Hawai’ (Beach

concept) as its theme. It is basically to build rapport, involve and get to know more about

the newcomers including their talents and interests along with cultural activities and

competitions. Mr Sachin Changappa – I semester B.B.A., LL.B won the ‘Mr. Fresher’ title;

Miss Kajal Prasad – I Semester LL.B won the ‘Miss Fresher’ title; Miss T.G. Navyashree – I

Semester B.A., LL.B won ‘Lucky Fresher’ title and Mr N.K.M. Navaneeth – I Semester B.B.A.,

LL.B won the ‘Best Dressed Fresher’ title. Freshers’ day included various cultural

programmes from students of the college.

Prof M.M. Prabhuswamy participated in the Seminar on ‘Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS) –

2019, Mysuru Road Show’ organised by the Department of IT, BT and S&T with the theme

‘Mysuru the next innovation hub’ at Hotel Radisson Blu Plaza, Mysuru on 27.8.19.

Dr S. Nataraju, Principal participated in the Seminar on ‘TDS and its compliance’ organised by

JSSMVP in association with IT Department, Mysuru on 30.8.19 at JSS College, Ooty Road,

Mysuru.

Prof P. Shivananda Bharathi and Sri Madhu Kumar R N attended Workshop on PFMS held at

JSS Women’s’ College, Saraswathipuram, Mysuru on 30.8.19.

Dr S. Nataraju participated as a guest speaker (as faculty incharge programme) and delivered

a Lecture on ‘Introduction to Administrative Law’ for the students of law at V.V.L.C, Mysuru

on 31.8.19.

Smt P. Ashwini, Moot Club Coordinator organised a Training Session on ‘Drafting of

Memorials including methodology of research, verification and proof readings of memorials,

framing of issues’ for the moot club members on 31.8.19 and Smt Keerthana, Company

Secretary was the resource person.

Students’ Awards/Accomplishments/Participation Miss Neeraja Rajesh, V Semester B.B.A., LL.B participated as delegate representing Finland in

UNGA-DISEC at SRM Vadapalani Model United Nations 2019 held during 9.8.19 to 11.8.19 at

SRM institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Mr Umar Shafiq – VII Semester B.A., LL.B, Miss V. Chinamayi – VII Semester B.B.A., LL.B and

Mr Prahan Singh – III Semester LL.B participated in the 2nd JUS LEX National Trial Advocacy

Competition organised and held at Saveetha School of Law, Chennai from 16.8.19 to 18.8.19.

Miss Tenzin Kadon – I Semester B.B.A., LL.B, Mr Norzin Lhamo – I Semester B.A., LL.B, Mr

Tsering Lhamo – III Semester B.A., LL.B, Miss Phurbu Dolma - V Semester B.B.A., LL.B, Miss

Dawa Choedon – VII Semester B.B.A., LL.B and Mr Tenzin Nangkey – VII Semester B.B.A., LL.B

attended Workshop organised specially for Tibetan Law students all over India by Tibetan

Centre for Human Rights and Democracy, held from 17.8.19 to 22.8.19 at Coimbatore.

Mr P.S. Veeresh, Miss Anindita Angadi and Miss T.S. Bindu of III Semester B.A., LL.B and Miss

Neeraja Rajesh of V Semester B.B.A., LL.B attended and presented paper titled

‘Performanceo of Contractual Obligation: Law and Practice’, ‘Analytical study on the

effectiveness of the Specific Relief (Amendment) Act, 2018’, ‘Commercial Dispute

Resolution’ and ‘Copyright Law: At full throttle or merely throttling’ respectively during Two

Day National Seminar on ‘Strengthening legal provisions for the enforcement of contracts:

Reassessing the quality and efficiency of dispute resolution of commercial matters in India’,

organised by NLSIU, Bengaluru in association with Department of Justice, Ministry of Law &

Justice, New Delhi held at NLSIU Bengaluru from 21.8.19 to 22.8.19.

The NCC cadets of our college – Miss Arathi K Anand, Dechamma Llachanna Kesari, Pavithra

Havaldar, Swathi Manjunath Seth, Yasmeen Safia A and Payal Emily Pereira have got

selected from Mysuru Group to attend the Pre-Vayu Sainik Camp 2019 at Bengaluru from

29.8.19 to 7.9.19.

The enrolment of NCC cadets of our college for the Training Year 2019-20 was conducted on

26.8.19 at the Unit at Naidunagara, Mysuru. A total of 28 freshers’ have been selected by

the Commanding Officer of 4KarAirSquNCC, Mysuru.

Mr Suhas and Miss Rishika Jain of IX Semester B.B.A., LL.B and Moot Club Student Co-

ordinators were invited as Speakers during One Day Workshop on ‘How to write Moot Court

Memorials?’ organised by and at S.B.R.R Mahajana Law College, Mysuru on 29.8.19.

The College Chess Men and Women Team participated in Karnataka State Law University

Inter Collegiate Chess Tournament held from 30.8.19 to 31.8.19 at Vykunta Baliga Law

College, Udupi. The Women Team secured second Place and Men Team secured Fourth

Place. Mr Karthik K.V. - III Sem. 3yrs LL.B has been selected for Karnataka State Law

University Chess Team.
