Please write the date and WALT in your book and complete each day.There are links to games/videos that might support both parents and children.Some of these activities may need adult support however other tasks can be completed independently. Please make a comment on how much your child was supported in each activity.

Monday11th May WALT: To research general life in Japan from a child’s perspective.

Activity: Watch the videos in the resources below (you can pick and choose which ones to watch). Discuss or think about how the life of children in Japan is different to yours. The following questions should help you.

What is their school day like? Lunchtimes? After school? How do they get to school?What is their homelife like? Do they have the same values as you? Do they do the same things?Do they act and behave the same as you? Are their routines the same as yours?

Think about what things are the same and what things are different about your life and a child’s life living in Japan. Write your ideas down under two columns in your workbook:-

Tuesday 12 th May WALT: To write a letter to a child in Japan.

How amazing! We have had a letter from two Japanese children that live in Tokoyo!

Activity: Read the letter with an adult and discuss. The children are really interested to know how your life is in England! Write either a letter or postcard back to explain what your life is like! You can include pictures some of the food you eat or activities/games that you do!

If you email me the letter or postcard, I will print it and send it back to them! Good luck!

Wednesday 13 th May WALT:. To research facts about Mount Fuji.

Overview: Mount Fuji is one of the most beautiful and majestic mountains in the Japan. It is popular not only in Japan but also in the whole world for several reasons. Would you like to discover interesting facts about Mount Fuji?

Activity: Look at the videos and websites below. Write down as many facts as you can about Mount Fuji. Which facts do you find the most interesting?

Friday 15 th May WALT: To research facts about native animals in Japan.

Activity: Use the weblinks or do your own research on what the native animals are in Japan. Use the grid in the resources section where you can either print and stick or draw a picture of the animal, then write the name and a brief description underneath.

Dear Year 2 children at Looe Primary!

Our names are Haru, Aiya, and Emica and we live in Tokoyo in Japan. We go to Yokohama school and travel there on our own everyday!

We are really interested to know what it is like living and going to school in England. We would love to knowyou’re your life different it is to ours!

Our school day is fun but really hard work. Our school bags are full and heavy as we have to take our books, lunch-mat, chopsticks, toothbrush and facemasks in it every day. What do you have in your school bags? Lunchtimes are long because we have to put on aprons and facemasks, clean our desks (because we eat in our classrooms), go through a list of things to see if we are feeling well and then finally put some hand sanitiser on. Sometimes we even have to dish up the food! Do you have to do this too? After the school day, we all clean the classroom – we are sure that you have to do this as well, yes? We have so many school rules to follow too. What are your school rules?

What is your family life like? We have cool bedrooms but we have to clean them everyday too. We love our cuddly toys. Do you have a favourite cuddly toy? What do you eat at home? We have vegetables, rice and lean meat everyday!
