Rotoscoping

First import the footage you have selected to rotoscope by going to File<Import<Import Video. Then select “embedded H.264 video in timeline” and search for the footage you wish to use, then click Next. Change the symbol type to Graphic and deselect “Include Audio” as we won’t need it. Click Next, and then Finish. Once the footage is uploaded convert the footage into separate key frames.

Then add a second layer into the project so that you can draw over your chosen footage.

Using the pencil tool, draw around the body of the person within the footage. The amount of detail you draw for the first picture must be consistent throughout the entire project.

When you feel as though you have finished a frame, make the original footage invisible so that you can better see what you have so far. If you are happy move onto the next frame and repeat. You don’t have to do every frame, but the more you do the smoother the animation will look.

Eventually you will start to see your time line fill up with your drawn frames.

Once you feel as though you are completely finished, you can export the footage by going to File<Export<Export Video… Then choose the export destination and click Export. After that your video should be ready to watch.
