PowerPoint Lesson 3 Step-By-Step 1 1. Open Step3-1 from the data files. 2. Save the presentation as US Government followed by your initials. 3. Click the New Slide button on the formatting toolbar to add another slide to the presentation. 4. Click on the first slide to select it. 5. Choose the layout button from the Home tab and choose the layout entitled Title Slide to apply it to the slide. 6. Click the box that says Click to add title, and key THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES in all capital letters. Click in the box that says click to add subtitle, and key An Organizational Chart. 7. 25. Click the The Supreme Court of the United Sates box. Right click on the box, click on Add Shape, and choose the option Add Assistant to add a new box on this level.

26. In the new box, key Vice President.

27. Your chart should look similar to the above picture.28. Save the presentation and leave it open for the next step-by-step.

Step-By-Step 2

1. Click the second slide to select it if it is not already selected. Select the box around the title place holder (as seen in the picture below) and tap the delete key.

2. Click on the table to select it. The SmartArt Tools tab should automatically pop up. Click on the Design tab under the SmartArt Tools tab. Next click the down arrow next to SmartArt Styles and choose Moderate Effect.

3. Select the words The Constitution in the top box of the chart. On the Formatting toolbar, change the font to Tahoma.

4. Click on your chart. A Small box should appear around it. Click the arrows on the far left side of the box. A “type your text here” box should appear. Select Vice President, right click on it and choose cut.

5. Put your insertion point after the word President. Hit enter one time on your keyboard. Hit the tab key on your keyboard one time. Hold down your Ctrl key and click the V on the keyboard to paste the words Vice President. See the picture below as a reference.

6. Exit out of the “type your text here” box.7. Select the chart if it is not already selected. At the top of the white box around the chart there

should be four small white dots. Place your mouse over the dots until you see a double (up and down) arrow appear. Click with your mouse and drag the box to the top of the screen. Your chart should now appear larger.

8. Save the presentation.

Step-by-Step 3

1. Select the second slide if necessary. Click the New Slide button to access the Slide Layout task pane. Change the slide layout to the one named Title and Content.

2. In the content box you will see six pictures as an option to insert something into the box. Choose Insert Table.

3. The insert table dialog box should appear. In the number of columns, key 3. In the number of rows, key 9. Click OK. Select the Title box and click delete on your keyboard. Reposition the table if necessary. Click the first cell on the table and key the data as shown in Figure 3-9.

4. Select all of the cells in the table by clicking in the top-left corner of the slide and dragging your cursor to the bottom-right corner of the slide.

5. Change the font to Tahoma, the positioning to Center, and the font size to 18.6. Save the presentation.

Step-By-Step 31. Open Step3-6 from the data files.2. Save the presentation as Optical Illusions followed by your initials.3. View the presentation. 4. Click between slides three and four and click the New Slide button. Be sure the layout is set to blank.5. (you should be on the new slide for these next steps) Click the Shapes button. Under Basic Shapes, choose Smiley

Face. Click the upper-left corner of the slide and drag to draw a box about the size of a nickel. When you release the mouse button the smiley face should appear.

6. Right click on the smiley face and select Copy from the menu. Click anywhere in the slide and use the Ctrl + V on your keyboard to paste.

7. Position the smiley faces in the middle of the slide and a few inches apart. See figure 3-16.

8. Now choose the Oval shape from the Basic Shapes section.9. For the first smiley face make one circle/oval smaller than the smiley face itself. Once you have drawn the shape,

select it, right click, and choose copy. Paste the same shape 5 times (make sure there are six small shapes total). Align the small circles around the first smiley faces. Dotted lines should appear to help you position the circles evenly.

10. Do the same for the second smiley face, only the circle surrounding the second smiley face should be drawn bigger than the face. Refer to Figure 3-17.

12. Click on the first smiley face. Now right click and choose the last option (Format Shape).13. Under the side tab Fill choose Solid Fill, and for the color choose Yellow. Click on the Line Style

tab on the left. Change the Width to 2.5 pt. 14. Do the same to the second smiley face.15. Save the presentation.16. Click any of the circles surrounding the first smiley face. Hold down the CTRL key and select the

rest of the circles surrounding the first smiley face. Your screen should have automatically chosen the Drawing Tools tab and the Format tab below it. If not, be sure to click on those tabs.

17. On the right, click the Group button and choose the Group option.18. Do the same for smiley face #2.19. Double-click any of the circles around the first smiley face. The Format tab should appear above.

Click the arrow next to shape fill and choose the color Indigo, Accent 6 (it should be at the top in the far right corner).

20. Continue selecting the rest of the circles, and now all you have to do is click on the paint bucket.21. Do the same for smiley face #2.22. Select all of the circles around both smiley faces by holding the CTRL key down. Click on the

Animation tab. Click the down arrow next to animation for more options. Choose Grow & Turn from the entrance section.

23. Select both smiley faces by holding down the CTRL key. Under the animations tab choose Zoom. If Zoom is not available choose more entrance effects at the bottom and find it there.

24. Open the Animation Pane. It should appear at the right of your screen.25. Save!!!

26. Click on the insert tab. Choose Text Box. Use your mouse to slide the text box across the bottom of the screen. Key the following in the box: Which smiley face is larger? Center the words, bold the words, and change them to font size 40.

27. If they text starts to wrap to the next line extend the sides of the text box using your mouse.28. Select the text Which smiley face is larger? Choose the option Add Animation (blue star with a

green plus sign) from the Animation tab.29. Choose Float In from the entrance section. With the text still highlighted, choose the option Add

Animation again. Choose Float Out from the Exit section.30. Select the first smiley face. Choose the option Add Animation. 31. Choose More Motion Paths at the bottom. A box should appear. Choose the option Right under

the section Lines & Curves. 32. Select the second smiley face. Choose the option Add Animation. 33. Choose More Motion Paths at the bottom. A box should appear. Choose the option Left under

the section Lines & Curves. 34. From the Animation Pane, move number five to number seven (the end) by dragging it with your

mouse.35. Save and view the presentation. =D Nice work!
