Newsletter February 2018 CHILDREN’S ROAD SAFETY Some Parents and Governors have raised some very serious concerns about the safety of children around cars outside of the school gates. Drop off and pick up times are very busy and I urge you all to be vigilant when reversing, opening doors or turning. I would ask all parents to ensure that children are not allowed to run around both in the car park or outside of the school gates. Please ensure that you are supervising your child at all times when arriving at and leaving Nursery. Please do not allow them to enter the car park unattended whilst you are waiting for school to open and do not allow them to play around staff cars. Child Protection Permissions form and updated contact/collection form You have also received home today a “Child Protection Permissions” sheet. Please fill this in as soon a possible and return to us. Any activities etc that you do not want your child to be involved in please DELETE on the sheet if part of a statement. For example if you don’t mind your child’s photo appearing on displays in Nursery but DON’T want them being used for presentations outside of school then delete the word ‘presentations’ and then put a tick to agree the statement that is left. If you agree or disagree with a whole statement then tick or cross appropriately. We are also updating our permissions to collect and contact sheets so please fill in and return to us asap. NEW SCHOOL WEBSITE! After the mid term break we will be “going live” with our new look website! This will enable us to move towards going “paper free” in terms of the letters and information that we send home. All newsletters and notes will be available on the website to view and a text will be sent out every time a new piece of information is put on the site. There will also be a few paper copies available in both school entrance areas. There is also an “App” available for you to download so that you have instant access on your phone. We can send you instant messages via this to alert you to new information, events etc. All diary dates and calendar events will be on here so this will also be useful for any relatives involved with caring for your child or child-minders/ Daycare to use as well. Please inform anyone who you think this will be useful for! A separate letter regarding more information for this is included with this newsletter today. You will also notice on the website that there is a new “Ballyclare Nursery School” Logo. Later this year we will be celebrating being 40 years open! In light of this we have decided to update our logos and make some changes to our uniforms. This will not affect anybody this year but will be introduced for children starting next September! Any parents who will have another child coming in September- please don’t worry- uniforms will be able to be phased in, so if you have uniform you were planning to reuse then this will be fine! WORLD BOOK DAY- Dressing up activity On Thursday 1 st March we will be joining in with “World Book Day” we will be engaging in lots of “story” activities. Children can dress up as their favourite book character for school on that day!

Newsletter February 2018

Some Parents and Governors have raised some very serious concerns about the safety of children around cars outside of the school gates. Please do not allow them to enter the car park unattended whilst you are waiting for school to open and do not allow them to play around staff cars.It is vital that everyone takes responsibility for the safety of ALL children whether you are walking to school or you are a car user.Thank you.
