6. Project Manager’s Reflection
Tang Yik Leung
This was my first time to be a project manager to hold a seminar to the Year 1
students. It was a really precious experience to me learning how to organize an
event and also gave me new insights into being a leader. I have learned to step
out my comfort zone and be self- confidence of my ability and capability. In
the past, I joined different boot camp to be part of the organizing committee,
including reporter, accountant and logistics. Despite of gaining much more
experiences in these positions, I was afraid that I was not capable to be a
project manager to lead other organizing committees. I refused to step out of
my comfort zone but only wanted to be guided by others. I misunderstood that
being a leader was stressful and demanding in the past, but after holding this
seminar, I could allocate different job duties to different organizing committee
effectively in good communications. Being a project manager was not that
difficult only if I could step out my comfort zone. I finally discovered that
communication and interpersonal skills plays an indispensable role in being a
leader. It is crucial for me to equip these skills for my studies and future
career. Moreover, holding a seminar successfully, though it had much room
for improvement, I felt a sense of accomplishment which made me satisfied.
All in all, I must say, I have learned a lot from being a project manager.
7. Reflections
7.1 Participants’ Reflections
Cai Qi Qiu
The seminar is useful for me because I learn how to definite myself, and know
my goals clearly.
Lai Ho Kiu
I think seminar is useful for me because I know more about ABAA activities
such as cycling and exchange. And I know that joining activities is important
for my future. But, I think academic result is the most important thing. If a
person who get a very good result but do not join any activities, he still has a
chance to get a degree. In the opposite, if a person who join many activities
but get a poor result, he must the get a degree. So I think we need to get a
good balance between academic result and ABAA activities. Then I think
everyone should an option to choose in ABAA activities. And the seminar is
quite useful.
Lau Kwan Yiu
I think that this seminar is useful for me because it reminds me what things I
am afraid and what goals that I have in the future. Also, the student leaders
told us a lot of information not only about exchange but also Island tour, that’s
very useful for us. Moreover, they were very internal when answering our
questions.
Lau Tak Ming
I think this seminar is useful because it provides some extra-curricular
activities to us, and Year 2 students share their experience. Year 2 students
also prepare the SWOT analysis to us and let us know how to understand
myself. Finally, we set up the goal for this two year. It can help us to work
hard to achieve our goal.
Liu Yun Han
From my point of view, the seminar is useful for me. First of all, l am able to
know lots of interesting activities by participating in this seminar. Moreover, it
helped me to understand myself better. For example, l realized my strength
and weakness, understood the opportunity and threat. I write my goal which is
meaningful. So l think it is useful for me.
Shiu Mei Fong
It is useful for me and helps me to know more about the campus. The activities
mentioned by the senior were interesting and encouraging. The seminar help
me get more information of those activities. The SWOT concept also useful
for my daily life and I think I can improve myself.
So Wing Yee
The seminar is useful. First of all, I can know more about the extra-curricular
activities, such as Taiwan trip, and felt the passion from seniors. Besides, the
seminar provided a chance to recognize my weakness. Also, seniors shared
their experiences and it let us know how to address the problems of
relationship between groupmates.
Tsai Cheng Hsuan
From this seminar, I have learnt the various activities issued by our
programme. I will participate those activities if I could. The SWOT analysis
helps me to identify my shortcoming.
Yasmeen Kirin
The seminar was very useful to me in different ways such as academic wise. I
got to know more about the campus and the system of CCCU. For the extra
co-curriculums activities such as study abroad scheme and the booth camp.
These are really useful information to me.
Zeng Fei Ting
This seminar is very useful to me because I met lots of seniors. I know about
the life in CCCU through the introduction to life and study. I am thankful that
Year 2 are helping us although they are busy.
7.2 Organizing Committee’s Reflections
Lai Tak Shing
SWOT Analysis is always an essential tool for self- developing. I am glad to
be the instructor of this workshop during which I share my experience of
constructing a SWOT Analysis with freshman of the year. Seeing those
freshmen taking notes and listening carefully is really a motivation for me to
keep up the good work.
Lai Wing Chin
I think that New Life in Campus Seminar was beneficial to both participants
and organizing committees. As an organizer, I've improved communication
skills. I did secretarial work in the preparation time. I found that promotion
was not as easy as I thought. I was not sending a message to target students
but actually attracting them to join the event. I needed to think about how to
influence more students to be passionate. This was an interesting task
definitely.
Wan Ching In
Through the seminar, it is useful for both Year 1 and Year 2 students because
there are still changes for us to join the exchange programme, and SWOT is
always important for improving ourselves. In this time, not only have to finish
my report and take photos during the session, but also help others, like being
active to solve the problems of the freshman. Being a new role, I definitely
have learnt much and it is a new and challenge experience for me.
Wu Suet Ting
The seminar gives me a chance to help freshmen know more about academic
information and school campus life.
