When will we stop telling God what we will and will not do? I had to laugh at myself on today. I was talking to my friend, Eva. I told her nothing else comes to my house that eats. I am going to post signs all over my property like those private property signs.

It was not a half hour later that a brown dog ran out in front my car. I saw him yesterday and just thought he was a neighbor's dog. He looked so lost and frightened. He ran on down the street. My compassionateheart kicked in. You see I am a soft touch for children, the elderly, and animals for they cannot talk or defend themselves.

I called my friend back, laughing. When will I learn to stop saying what I will and will not do? I could not let that dog wander around without anything to eat. She laughed and said go ahead and pick out a name for the dog. So here I go eating my words.

I love Mary's response in Luke 1:38 "And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.”

cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

So many people need our help. Investing in someone’s life can be so time-consuming. Sometimes we want to give up. We begin to tell God what we will and will not do. We begin to tell him how much it is costing us. Well, It cost Jesus everything, his life.

The enemy of our soul, satan, wants to keep the believer stuck in pride. He does not want us to surrender to Christ. He pumps us up, making us think our way is better.

How many times have we told God what we will and will not do? Beloved, such a big part of our walk as a believer is to be obedient no matter what we want or no matter how we see things in the natural.

I dare you to stop wrestling with God and just tap the mat as signal you give up. Then tell God not my will, but thine, be done?

Shalom

This month COZ gives honor to Eddie Wayne Douglas. He went home to be with the Lord on July 25th. COZ and I were heartbroken to hear of the sudden passing of our beloved brother.

Eddie and his son Tyler visited COZ’s church in the park once a month when Main Street United Methodist Church brought lunch to the park.

Eddie was a singled father who loved his seventeen year-old son.

I would run into Eddie and his son or his mother around Kernersville. He always brought a smile to the conversation. We would stop and

During a mission trip, the last of June and the first week of July Carol E. Fulton fulfilled a child hood dream to visit Greece. The highlight of the trip was following in the footsteps of the Apostle Paul.

Fulton, first of all, gives God all the honor for allowing this poor, farm girl from Kernersville to cross over the waters to experience such an awesome and anointed trip.

Secondly, she is very grateful to Pastor Jeff Oaks, from Hosanna Fellowship (Johnson City, TN) for asking her to join his mission trip group.

The trip was twofold. We visited cities that Paul ministered in such as Thessaloniki, Philippi, Vergina, ancient Corinth and Athens.

Page 3 of 4 COZ News Continuestalk for a few minutes, always about his son or the military. You see Eddie was a navy man and I was an army woman. I never held it against him (smile).

Eddie was faithful to come to the park. He would take the lead when ever Wayne, the youth director could not make it.

Eddie will be missed by all the lives he touched through COZ and church in the park. I will miss running into him somewhere in Kernersville.

Please keep Eddie’s mom and son in your prayers. Tyler was headed to college but will be taking this year off to grieve.

We also visited different outreach sites. There the group sorted and folded clothes. We also packed peanuts for the refugees and homeless coming in out of the heat. The groups also helped people needing showers and their clothes washed.

One of Fulton’s favorite moments was when she got to do the Electric Slide with some of the children at one of the refugee camps. The children were fascinated with her purple hair.

According to Fulton, this was a God ordained trip. She is grateful for what she experienced and learned but Fulton said she knows her mission field is in her hometown of Kernersville.

Would she do it again, Fulton said yes, as God allows. Amen!

GIVING MATTERS to the people COZ serves. Food goes into empty bellies. Lights stay turned on so people can stay warm. Kids get to experience new adventures because you give. The homeless can get off the streets. Lessons are learned because people care. People are transformed and Jesus is exalted. Please consider giving to COZ. Every donation is significant regardless of the amount.

COZ is a registered non-profit corporation and, as such, is dependent upon the generous contributions of individuals, churches, Blessing List
