World Cup Values- Building a Better Future Outcome: Students to think about their place in the world and that our actions and decisions will determine the future of our planet. “Sometimes it is hell on the streets but when I play football I feel as if I am in heaven” (Thamires, Brazil team 2010) Millions of children around the world are forced to live and work on the streets. These children are ignored, vulnerable to abuse and routinely denied their basic rights. They are seen but not heard. The Street Child World Cup is a global campaign for the rights of street children. Through football, art and an international street child conference the campaign is to ensure street children are given the protection and opportunities that all children deserve. Bible Verse: Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring Key Question: How can we build a better future? What part can we play in building a better future? Quote for the week: Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. Malcolm X.
