1Lay out a sheet of baking paper on the table. We make the wax seals onto baking paper to avoid wasting envelopes if we make a mistake!

2 Plug the glue gun in, load it with a wax stick and wait for it to heat up.

3Once the gun is hot hold it over the baking paper. Squeeze the trigger 3-4 times so you have a blob of hot wax about the same size as your seal.

4Immediately press your wax seal into the hot wax blob, hold for a couple of seconds and then lift the seal off.

5 If you are going to make more seals you need to cool the wax seal by holding it on a piece of ice for about 5 seconds. If you don’t let it cool the wax will stick to the seal when you make the next one. Dry the seal off with your cloth or tea towel so no water marks are left. Now repeat steps 3-5 for as many seals as you want to make.

6 Once you have finished making all of your seals use a bit of glue tape or double sided tape on the back to attach them to your envelopes.

1 Using the template as a guide cut a 15cm square from your patterned paper.

2 Cut along the dotted lines as shown on the template

3 Place a small amount of glue in the centre and take one of the outside points and adhere to the centre point.

4 Repeat with the three remaining points and allow to dry.

5 Attach the pinwheel to a stick with a nail. Finish with a button.

1Plan layout of brooches - consider the visual balance of the pieces and how well they will attach to each other (ie are the holes to attach the jump rings close enough?)

2Use pliers to remove the brooch backing with a firm twisting motion. Leave the backings on the top two brooches as this will make attaching the ribbon easier at the end.

3Use a fine file to file away any remaining sharp bits. Run your finger or some thin fabric over it to make sure all metal is filed away properly (otherwise it catches on clothes).

4Twist open jump rings and connect brooches one at a time. Then close jump rings. Be sure rings swing freely, if there is pressure on rings they will pop open.

Experiment with the number of jump rings you use - you may only need one jump ring to attach two brooches, sometimes using two will cause the brooches to twist and turn, however some brooches may need two rings attached, and will result in a more secure necklace.

5Take both 60cm pieces of satin ribbon, run a lit match along the cut edge to carefully ‘melt’ them to prevent fraying.

6 Fold over edges, thread through brooch backs, stitch in place. You can pin brooch through the ribbon if it sits better.

TIP: Some brooches have a spinner to secure, so it may be necessary to secure the brooch pin with a dab of clear nail polish to stop it opening.

meet Jason...Well I’ve always loved art, fine art (oil painting) and art history was a huge part of my teenage years. However along the line I left that love and pursued a career in software for 10 years. During that time I found photography as a foray back into my previous creative world. I shoot weddings because I believe marriage is a gift and it has the potential to be one of the most rewarding things in life. It’s also the foundation for a stable home but unfortunately many don’t make the distance. So I want to show you two things… passion and emotion. ‘Passion’ because it’s there when you look at each other now and should never leave. ‘Emotion’ because your whole wedding will be filled with them and I want you to relive it.

Imagine sitting on the couch looking at your wedding album 20 years from now. I’d say what you value then may be different to what you value now. With styling and decoration choices, we’re really talking about the experience you want to create for yourself and your guests. It could be a custom hair piece with a trinket from your grandmother, a handmade buttoniere, pictures of your loved ones littered around the venue or a tailor-made shirt just like your fathers. Whatever they are, make choices that have meaning behind them rather than following trends. If you do that, the value will remain long after the day passes.
