Weddings

Sumba weddings are loaded with culture. Whether you

choose to marry on our long stretch of beach, in the

mystical rain forest, or on a clifftop above the ocean,

exotic romance is captured by the colorful ceremony of

local tradition. We are here to tailor your perfect

wedding with bespoke solutions that are uniquely

yours. Below you will find an array of on-site venues

and ambient styles that we offer, including pricing

guidelines.






SizeAt Nihi Sumba we can accommodate both small, intimate

weddings or vow renewals with a handful of guests, as well as

larger celebrations, with a full buyout of our 29 villas (34

rooms) with a capacity of up to 80 people.

CeremonyYou can choose from a Christian ceremony, or a traditional

Sumbanese blessing ceremony that is performed by the

spiritual leader of the community (a local Ratus, meaning

“priest”). This will include cultural conventions like the chewing

of Betel Nut, a local nut routinely chewed by the native

Sumbanese that is a traditional marriage ritual symbolizing a

sealing of the marital union, similar to the ritual of exchanging

rings. We do have a Protestant priest to lead a religious

ceremony in English and adhere to Western traditions, though

this will not be a legal wedding. There is also a Catholic church

on the island. You may choose to have either ceremony in front

of our resort on our private 2.5km stretch of white sand, or at

Nihioka, our award-winning spa safari, perched on a private sea

the tropical rain forest with a beautiful lounge on the beach to

MAKE-UP & HAIR STYLIST | We can help arrange a profession-

al make-up and hair stylist from Bali. Please remember that the

stylist would need roundtrip flights from Bali to Sumba and

accommodation on site. We do have service lodging available.

ENTERTAINMENT | Live band (from $600 per night), DJ (from

$600 per night) and Local Sumbanese Fire Dancers ($200 per

performance).

FLOWERS | We can do simple, elegant decorations with indigenous

Sumbanese flowers. Additional charges will apply for imported

flowers and for florist if required.

FIREWORKS | from $500.

PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO SERVICE available at an additional

charge depending on the duration of shooting and quantity of

photos.

Accommodations

A minimum of three nights stay (for green and shoulder

seasons) or 5 nights stay (for high season) is required for a

total resort buyout. The prices for a total buy out (34 rooms)

are listed below. Prices for partial buyout are based on applica-

ble room rates. Please see our rates.

The above-mentioned prices are inclusive of the following:
