Does the package include venue hire? No, the package prices do not include venue hire. Venue hire is charged separately by the Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences (MAAS). MAAS can be contacted via: [email protected] or telephone: +61 (02) 9217 0289 +61 (02) 9217 0519 Can you check availability for the Sydney Observatory venues? Venue availability needs to be confirmed by MAAS. They can be contacted using the above MAAS contact details.What is the capacity of the marquee? The marquee can comfortably hold up to 200 - 220 persons for a cocktail depending on your themeing and furniture. How large is the marquee? The marquee is 10m x 20m. Is the marquee air-conditioned? The marquee is not air-conditioned. You can hire fans or portable air-conditioners at your expense if desired. Are there any locations in the Sydney Observatory where a wedding ceremony can take place? When the marquee is not erected ceremonies can take place on the front garden of the Sydney Observatory or in the courtyard. When the marquee is erected ceremonies can only take place on the front garden. Please note that the Sydney Observatory does not offer a wet weather back up option for ceremonies/events taking place outdoors or not within the marquee. *NOTE - Observatory Hill Park & Band Rotunda (Public Reserve) are booked through the City of Sydney Council. The park coordinator can be contacted on 02 9265 9333

Where are the best places for photos? The Sydney Observatory building offers a beautiful backdrop for bridal photos. Alternatively, Observatory Hill offers scenic water and Harbour Bridge views or you can take a short stroll to the historic Rocks which also provides a picturesque setting for photos. Does Create Consultants provide any decorations as part of the wedding package? Create Consultants has 6 x cocktail tables available for use. All other cocktail furniture, tables, chairs, florals, vases, candles and other themeing items are not included in the package. Do you have preferred suppliers for theming, entertainment, AV etc.? Create Consultants has a list of recommended suppliers that will be provided to you.What time will the suppliers be able to access the room to set up our decorations? MAAS allocate bump in times between 8am – 10am on the day of your event at the Sydney Observatory. Bump in outside of these times need to be confirmed by MAAS and your Create event coordinator. Are you able to set my decorations/centrepieces? Create Consultants does not take responsibility for setting centrepieces and other decorations. We will set bonbonniere if provided to us prior to the wedding day.

Can we leave decorations/items at the Sydney Observatory to be picked up the following day? No, the Sydney Observatory has no secure storage facilities. MAAS or Create Consultants do not take responsibility for any items left in the marquee over night. Are we allowed to have candles in the marquee or bathrooms? The Sydney Observatory does not permit naked flames as it is a heritage listed site. This includes sparklers, torches, fireworks etc. LED candles are allowed. Does the marquee come with a dancefloor? The marquee is set on a paved brick courtyard. An area will be allocated for dancing or you can hire a dancefloor at your expense. Create Consultants can organise a dancefloor on your behalf or you can use your own choice of supplier. Can we bring our own food? Create Consultants is the exclusive caterer to the Sydney Observatory. Any external food other than your wedding cake would need to be approved in writing by Create Consultants. Do you cater for special dietary requirements? Yes, on request we can provide meals tailored for dietary requirements. We require notification of any guests that have special dietary requirements prior to the event date as stipulated in our T&C’s. In the rare instance where a guest’s dietary requirements cannot be catered to by our kitchen, the additional costs of this purchase will be passed on to you.Do you provide crew meals? Yes, crew meals can be organised and include a main only plus soft drinks for $55 per person. Should you require additional courses or alcohol please advise your coordinator who will provide adjusted pricing. You need to advise of number of crew meals required when you provide your other wedding details.Do you cater for children? Yes, for children aged 2 – 12 years we have a children’s menu available. Child meals are $55 per person. Teenagers receive $15 off the adult price but receive the same meals as adults. Babies/children who do not require a meal are free of charge. You need to advise of any children and teenagers when you provide your wedding details. What is the maximum duration for a cocktail wedding reception? 4 hours.Can we decide on the night if we want to extend the package? For staffing and security reasons we are required to know two weeks prior to the event. The start and finish times will be signed off prior to the function date. Does alcohol service need to finish at a certain time? Alcohol service needs to cease 15 minutes prior to the event finish time. The latest time that alcohol service can run is until 11:45pm.

Can we change the beverages in the package? Beverage packages can be upgraded at an additional cost. The final amount will be determined based on the types of wine and beer you wish to include. Can we provide our own beer and/or wine? Yes, in this scenario we will tailor your wedding package accordingly. Please advise your sales manager if you would like to do so. Are spirits provided on the evening of the reception? Spirits are not a part of the package. Your guests can either purchase spirits on the night or spirits can be charged on consumption through a bar tab. If you wish to have spirits on consumption you will need to complete a payment authorisation form providing credit card details prior to the wedding day, your coordinator will charge the beverages consumed to your credit card after the event. We allow you to bring one type of each spirit complimentary eg. 1 x scotch, 1 x vodka etc. Corkage is charged for extra bottles at $10 per bottle. If guests arrive early can they go straight in to the marquee? The venue will only be available at the time specified on the event sheet/schedule. Should the guests arrive at the venue before this time, they will need to wait in the front garden until the event start time. Do you provide parking on site? Complimentary parking is not provided on site for guests. MAAS can allocate 3-4 car spots within the Observatory staff parking area, however 1-2 of these spots are for Create Consultants and 1 would be required for the DJ, should you have a DJ included in your wedding package. Can our guests throw rose petals at the end of the wedding ceremony or on our departure at the end of the night? Rose petals are permitted but there is a cleaning fee of $220. Please advise MAAS in advance if you will be doing so.Are there any rooms that we can allow young babies or older guests to rest/sleep? No, this is not provided at the Sydney Observatory. Do you have a bridal room for the bridal party? Unfortunately, we do not have a bridal room available at the Sydney Observatory.Do you allow dry ice? Dry ice would need to be approved by MAAS prior to the event.Do you allow animals on site? MAAS would need to approve animals being on site. Do you provide highchairs? Yes, we can but you need to advise of any highchairs when you provide your wedding details. Highchairs will not be available on the day of the event if you have not advised us prior.
